B2400 leak from clutch shaft seal. Help. Photo added.

I have a b2400hsd I think it has a hydraulic leak from the seal where the shaft enters the clutch housing. Has anyone replaced this seal? What does it entailed? The access appears limited from the bottom but it looks like it might be able to be removed. Any help would be appreciated.

I've added a photo showing the shaft and seal location under discussion.

I'm wondering if I remove the retaining nut on the shaft retaining sleeve, will I be able to move the shaft out of the way so I can access the seal? Anybody have any experience with this? As you can see there is not much room to work which is why I'm hesitant. Thanks

BTW: the plug above the shaft popped off as I was warming the tractor after sitting outside overnight in -14 degree weather several years ago. I've replaced that plug but ever since I am still plagued by a slight leak.

The only way to get that shaft out is to split the tractor. $1200 is about right depending on where you live, that's what I would quote plus parts and oil.

I don't think it was leaking after all. My steering wheel seal was leaking. I replaced that and now do not have any leakage. The oil must have come from the steering wheel seal. Even after I changed the steering wheel seal there appeared to be a leak. There must have been some residual oil somewhere that dripped down to that seal making me believe that it was leaking. After a while, the drips of oil went away. I have my fingers crossed hoping that's the case.

Anyway, I wasn't going to attempt anything until the leak got really bad because it looked like a painful job to replace that seal. Depressed to hear it's a $1200 job.

I changed the six dollar seal with out splitting the b 2400 ,,, can't stand oil leaks or kabota dealerships

thanks for asking first thing I did was cut that designed flawed drive shaft out of the kubota with a sawsall and with minor mods to the tractor, some machine work on a blank shaft I found, splinded to uses stock couplings and a machined seal installation tool I made. I can change that seal in less than a half an hour on my B2400hst tractor I have been running the tractor hard for the last six months trying to break the new shaft and seal with out any luck .

thanks mike

Good job. Beats splitting the tractor. Will really pay off if you have to replace that seal (or anything else there) again. My B7800 has the same setup. Thanks for sharing.
