B2400 Used

Hi again, thanks for the input on B7300. Decided to go with a unit with powersteering. I have come across a strange deal, my father sold his B2400 last year when he bought a 3710. The gentleman that bought it has used it 30 hours (tractor has under 200 total hours) and wants to get a bigger tractor now. I have 7 acres 5 finished mowed and do some light landscaping. I planed to buy a new BX2200 next year, but this B2400 is avail now and will cost less then a new BX. Is this going to be to much tractor for my uses. I can;t see how to much is possible but looking for opinions.

You know the tractor and how it has been taken care of, don't know how much more you could ask for in a used tractor. Sure are a lot of people out there using that size tractor to do what you are planning. I vote, go for it.

Like it was said, if you know the history of the tractor and the price is right, I'd jump on it. I have a B2100 and it's a lil workhorse for most everything I do on my property (and gawd knows I really work the lil thing). You know like rearends, everyone has an opinion . This over that, and you need what I have or it isn't as good...you end up second guessing what you do. Personally, ya always want a bigger toy, but if the numbers are good, and you all ready know the history, the cost savings could get some of those extra attachments ya always wanted. And the cost savings will make any shortcomings you may come across all the less painfull. A B2400 is a great lil machine. Good luck.

The cost savings can be used to get more attachments and you could use those later on a BX if you wanted. The 24 would also give you a trade in. There's a thread here on how big is too big, and the general opinion appears to be: When you can't turn it around in your yard, it's a little bit too big.

avanti: this past winter i bought a used b2400 with only 68 hrs. on it. i was looking at new b7500, but when i came across this unit witha few extra attachments , i had to go for it. it is a great machine. i have 9 acres to take care of , depending on what u want to do, the 2400 should be fine. not that big. but big enough to do what u want to do. i am totaly satisfied.

Sounds like a good deal to me, and to top it off, you know the tractor and how it's been treated for most of its life. I don't know how you could do better. The 2400 is pretty darn compact. Unless you have some really small places to get into, I bet it will do a fine job.

Get it. I bought a new B2400 last year for my 7.5 acre lot. I mow about five acres at least once a week. It is a dream to mow with. It also has been great for snow removal and other chores. It is definately not too big for five acres of finish mowing. As a matter of fact, just last night as I was mowing, I started wondering if a 2710 with a 72 inch deck might be too big.
