Planning to order a B2320 this week but looking 'used' to the last minute. Found a B2400 HST w. 351 loader, power steering, one family owned, 392 real hours, it is in excellent shape. Has great turfs I'd likely change to industrials ($1000?) but can get it for $9300 vs. $13,900 for a new B2320. Tempted strongly on this to save about $3500.

Differences noted = position control + non-detach bucket + fixed ROPS on B2400. Everything works & owned by a mechanic & seems a tough machine. Noted HST is not quite as 'stop right now!' as B2320 but all else quite similar.

Any thoughts welcome as I gotta decide tomorrow & thanks again.

There's nothing wrong with buying used. The difference is answering some questions to your own satisfaction. Is the used unit in great shape? Has it had the service schedule fulfilled? Are there any known issues? Are there signs of abuse or neglect? yada yada.

But, finally, can enough money be saved? To lay out cash of this kind for a tractor without a warranty, the savings have to be there. Everyone has their own dollar point at which saving the funds is well worth it. For some, it would have to be only paying 60% of what a new one can be purchased.

If that used one is at a dealer, there are more things to push for. Dealerships have quite a bit of "room" in the price and finding out their "breaking point" is worth pushing, pushing and pushing some more to find. All new fluids and filters, a $300 value, would also be a nice confidence builder. :)

Thanks. The B2400 has a tiller + back blade with it.

You know, upon reflection...I've been looking at used tractors for a long long time, asked too many questions here & have seen exactly one tractor that was a no-brainer & I missed it by a couple of hours. I think I'm just grasping at straws here before shelling out new tractor $.

This B2400 is the about the 'newest' used Kubota I've seen. I worked it out a lot & it is 'tight' as, but once I add loaded R4s etc. to it to get it up to snuff I'll have a very nice used tractor w. no warranty etc. for about $3400 less than a new one & about the only advantage to it is the position control in my book.

I'll call the owner to tell him I'm passing and if anybody here is interested I'll post a link to it

Your experience matches what so many others report here.

If the used tractor is priced within shouting distance of new one, but comes with no warranty and requires cash to buy, of course, most guys would just go ahead and get the new one.

If a 4-5 year old tractor is priced right, it is usually sold very, very quickly.

Either the used one is over priced or the new one is a good deal. I agree with your assessment. The new is just to attractive. The B2400 is a slightly larger tractor though. Have you considered the B2620?
