well... did a 50 hour service on my B2620 which included
- hydro filter change
- hst filter change
- fluid change

Changed the fluid because I felt like it was a cheap insurance step and oil not that expensive.
Problem is I did not take out/clean the strainer.
If I take the strainer out now will it leak fluid while I make the clean? (above or below the fluid line)

I guess I could drain the fluid and make the clean on the strainer and then put same fluid back in.

Also I remember at one time Messicks had a we site where photo of where the strainer was located (as well as filters, drain plugs etc..) for the B2620. I can not find the link. Anyone know the addy for where these photos are?

with thanks
Bill

perfect thanks!!!

now just need to find out whether I need to drop the new hydro oil I put in a few weeks ago (save and then put back in tractor) when I remove the hydro strainer or just pull the strainer with the fluid still in the tractor.

to be safe I will pull the fluid unless someone recomends otherwise.

cheers

If it was me I wouldn't pull the strainer. At 50 hours I did have some metal chips in the strainer but not a lot. I would be more concerned about contaminating the oil by the changing than chips in the strainer.

Agree, I wouldn't pull the strainer at 50 hours. Can go along time.

I have a B2320 and wondered if there was a strainer on it. Of course I havent looked but i remeber reading the messicks write up. I also just looked at the write up again that is above in this post and it is for a B7800. So have you located the strainer on your B2620?

no.. have not found (nor looked) for the strainer on the B2620 yet.
The tractor is at our hunt cabin for the winter and only get out there 1x per month or so.
will likely wait till spring before even looking as the amount of use it gets blowing snow, skidding logs will not be great enough to warrent me crawling underneath in -20 -30 weather we get out here in January.

I looked at my 2320 tonight I couldnt find anything but it maybe there Ill check my WSM as well. I dont blame you for not crawling under there in that cold... brr. you need a block heater for the block heater :)

I just did the 50 hour on my new B2620 and I don't think there is a strainer like the BX had and the B7800 that the Messicks reference shows. If you find a strainer boakley, let us know about it. Also, the drain plugs for oil and HST may be different than the Messicks reference. Cheers, Mike
