I was doing my 50 hour service (a little late) on my tractor today. I pulled the plugs on the oil pan and while I was waiting for the oil to drain I grabbed the hanging w/strip off the bottom of the hood and took a good look at it. I decided to get out my w/strip adhesive and run a bead of it along the bottom lip of the hood. Then I was going to put a bead in the groove of the w/strip.
Before I put any glue on the w/strip, I noticed that there is a metal strip inside the w/strip. I found that I could squeeze the w/strip to tighten up the groove. Then I proceeded to push the w/strip on the rim of the hood. It seems to be a lot tighter, but I'll let the adhesive cure before I get too excited about the repair. I'll check it again tomorrow and see if it seems like it will hold, and let you know how it works out.
