I have a 1999 Kubota B2710. The oil pressure light comes on and stays on up to 5 seconds when the tractor is first started in the morning or after it has sat for an extended period of time. Once the tractor has been started, I can restart the tractor and the light goes off immediately.
I currently have 210 hours on my tractor. The problem started when the tractor had 150 hours on it. The dealer changed the oil filter at the 150 hour mark with no change. I changed the oil and filter at the 210 hour mark, the tractor had not been running all day when I changed the oil. The oil filter was completely EMPTY, maybe a drop or two.
Not having oil pressure at startup does not correspond to long life in any engine much less a diesel engine.
My question is: does the oil filter have a valve that holds the oil in the filter when the tractor is not running or is this mechanism somewhere within the tractor itself?
Thanks
