Hello all, it has been a really long time since I've been on TractorByNet, lots of life stuff getting in the way. But, I know where to go when I need help. I bought and picked up a brand new B2782B front mount blower for my B3030. Pretty cool attachment. I've been considering buying one every year since I bought my B3030 but the front blade has always worked....eventually. The last straw was last winter when I opened my garage door after a storm and had about 4 feet drifted against the door with the rest of driveway above the blade. It took hours and hours and I ended up even using the loader for some parts. I said enough.

I just got the blower home and offloaded this weekend onto dollies. The dealer installed the bearings and shaft on my quick hitch and did a pretty good start up walk through. The one thing I forgot to ask about as oiling the chain. There is a sticker on the machine that states to use bar and chain oil.

So my question. Exactly how to I apply the bar and chain oil to the chain? There is a small hole where it looks like you want to get it in there but do you just pour some on the chain? Take that cover off?

Thank you all for your help. Also, any other tips for maintenance/operation of the blower would be helpful. Good to be back, thank you.

You can find several brands of spray roller chain lube... carried at most motorcycle, automotive and automotive parts shops... spray it on and it is tacky enough that it will not sling off... you can spray it directly onto the chain while it is slowly moving. KennyV

I use the spray on chain lube. I insert the small spray tube and spray at different angles while the tractor is warming up. It works for me.

I have the B2782A blower so it's probably nearly identical to yours. I have always removed the cover to expose the large sprocket. Once removed, it's easy to spin the front impeller by hand which will rotate the chain. I use a small paint brush dipped in bar/chain oil to apply directly to the chain. If I do this several days prior to using the snowblower, the slinging of the bar oil is not a problem for me. Removing the cover also allows me to check the chain tension while oiling although it rarely needs to be adjusted. The only problem with removing the cover is getting the underside bolt to line up with the female threads as it needs to be done blind, by feel. It gets easier each time though.

I drilled a hole with a step drill at the cover top. Allows me to spray or use chain saw oil and pour it over the chain as necessary. I need to get a rubber grommet or stopper to prevent water entering...I oil the chain every couple of weeks whether it needs it or not!
