Hi,

Is there such an animal as a cover for the mid PTO on the B2910?

I tried to get one from the dealer when I bought my tractor but it did not happen.

When I looked under there last time it did not seem like there was any provision for one, as compared to the back PTO which does both accept the plastic cover that snaps in, and which is also held in by a small screw...which I don't have at the moment.

Also, is that small screw 6mm or 7 mm? Anyone know? The 5mm screws that I happen to have on hand are too small...

Grateful for any info!

I have not seen a cover for the mid PTO.
The rear PTO cover does have a screw hole in it. But the little tabs on the side seem to hold it on without any problem.
The screw is a 6. But I had to use a tap to clean out the threads.

Hi Ron and all,

I guess I should just cover the mid PTO shaft with layer of grease and let it go at that...I don't have anything that uses it so far as I have a RFM.

Thanks!

I think the Mid PTO should have a cover. When the MMM is not on weeds, branches and other debris can get around the shaft and bearings. Just like you had problems with your FWD shaft and made a guard. I plan on making some kind of belly guard that will protect all the items that can get something caught in them.

I posted the same question for my B7500. I normally have it connected to my MMM but when I take the MMM off it sure does seem vulnerable. The responses I got said that it shouldn't be needed. You can find the post by doing a search in this forum by typing in Mid PTO Cover.

Hi,

I was thinking of a mid-pto cover more for prevention of rust rather than protection from physical damage.

I do plan on making a belly pan of some sort to protect the back undersides of the tractor...but that won't happen until next spring at the earliest. Even with a belly pan, I would not mind having a cover over the mid pto, just to keep the grease on it, if for no other reason.

Did pickup a 6mm hex bolt at TSC this morning to ensure that the rear PTO cover does not fall off, along with a carry all to make the trip worthwhile. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
