Can a B2920 run and lift a 5' Brush hog OK? The owners manual says 48" but I think I have read on here of other members running a 5' I have found a deal on one thats why I'm asking. Thanks...

My neighbor has a JD-790 that has a 27hp motor and runs a 5' bush hog. Based on that I would say you would be ok. The thing is the weight of that bush hog that will move your tractor around some. That JD weighs about 3000+ lbs vs your tractor about 2000lbs (?) with loaded tires and the loader on.

I run a light duty 5' Howse behind my B3200 and I think it's also rated for a 48" cutter. I only use it to mow pasture areas and it seems to do pretty well. I used to use it behind my 21HP B7510 and did pretty well.

I run a 54" woods behind my 2620. It weighs around 500lbs, and you know it is back there. I work on some relatively steep ground, and I would not any heavier of a cutter back there. My tractor has ample power to run the 54" unit, and I am quite sure it would run a 5 foot model-the question is the weight. PSDStu's 3200 is a larger, heavier tractor. It would great if you could try a 5' cutter out before you buy.

I have a B2920 and a Bush Hog Squeeler 5' rough cut mower. I talked to my dealer about a 48 or 54" and he said he could get them, but thought I would be happier with the 60" and was confident it would handle it. I let me put it on the back of the tractor and use it on their grounds before buying it. Bush Hog also makes a lighter guage, but it only had a 1 year warrenty, so I went with the Squeeler. It spins it fine. It lifts it fine. The only issue I have is after a couple of rounds, I look back and notice the front of the mower is down lower on the ground. If we are mowing in areas where we are sure we aren't going to hit rocks or brush, we use the MMM. Maybe a 54" would not tend to drop as quickly, but I think it would still be an issue. I would not personally opt for a 48" as it would only just cover my tracks and it would give up a lot of width compared to the 60" MMM.

I have a b2620, bought the landpride 60" "bush hog" when I bought the tractor. It would mow okay but as someone above said it would drop after a while. I ended up selling it and buying a finishing mower. Since the finishing mower has wheels on it, no problems. Of course you can't mow the real heavy stuff, but I'm not going through brush with it anyway.
