B2920
Hi guys. I'm a noob here. I have a great deal going on a B2920 FEL & MMM right now. I have a few questions first though.
I would be replacing a 04 Simplicity 50" Zero turn mower. My question is how are these a at mowing? Is it to much tractor for my lawn? I mow approx 2 aces. Own 6
Also really like the R4 tires but how bad are they on turf? Just wondering if I will regret this purchse for mowing? At first I was not going to get the MMM But to make this prchase more practical:D I figured I should use it more;)
Also has anybody tried the FEL With out rim saver? Dealer said only 1 in 10 load tires! Thanks for any and all input.

This is not to much tractor for your lawn. It is a great mowing machine. Barlows always load rear tires on my B's with FELs. They just include it. If your yard is wet stay off of it. Try to make your turns when mowing as gentle as possible and that applys with all 4wd tractors not just the B's. I have the I4 tires which may be the same as R4's and they are not a problem with my yard other than when the ground is saturated. The z will mow faster but that's all it will do. It will be like moving from a Corvette to a 4 door Truck. Truck can do all the Corvette will do but not as fast but the Corvette can not do all the truck can do.

And how hard is it to remove the front end loader? For mowing? Thanks

FEL is not hard to remove, less than 5 minutes on level ground. I was in the same boat as you when I purchased my 2620 last July. I have loaded R-4's as well. I actually did get the MMM, used it for 10 minutes and asked the dealer to take it back, luckily for me he did at a full refund price and I used this money 2k and put it towards a ZTR, and I couldnt be happier w/ my decision. Now dont get me wrong the 10 minutes I cut w/ it it cut like a champ! I just didnt want to remove my FEL everytime I mowed and some of my mowing is slightly sloped so I felt more comfortable mowing w/ a ZTR than the tractor in these areas. Also as you probably know a ZTR will be much faster. Again as others mentioned dont use MMM when wet or the tires will tear into the lawn sum and even when dry try not to make any sharp turns as well. But as you mentioned it does get you more seat time getting the MMM just plan on adding some time to your mowing time. I would recomend if your mowing mostly flat property and can afford to add some time to your mowing. Good Luck

What other tasks would you be using the 2920 for? Why not keep the zero turn just for mowing the lawn. I would think it would still be as fast @ 50" as the 60" on the 2920 because of the zero turn feature. R4's aren't too bad if you stay off lawn when it is wet as others have mentioned. Maybe you keep the Simplicity, skip the MMM for the 2920 and but another implement or two that you can use with what you would have spent on the MMM.

Not sure who your dealer is, but my dealer does the same as JohnThomas states Barlow's does, which is loaded rear tires (rimguard) on every tractor they sell.

I understand everyone has their preference and budgets. For me I could not see putting this much money into the tractor for just loader and BH use. You are not getting the BH so that would be even less hours on the tractor. That is why I ended up with the MMM so I could justify the price for more ability and use. The MMM is cheaper than a ZTR and if you go real cheap on a ZTR it is going to have to be worked on more often and eventually be replaced. I am not saying there are not great ZTR's out there but in the price range of what the MMM cost they will not last forever. The FEL, BH and MMM all go on and off really easy. The FEL is the quickest to take on and off (on level concrete). I store my loader and BH where I would park a ZTR:D. I mow less than 2 acres with mine and several parts are on hills, actually there really aren't many flat spots on my property. I think the BH seat option on these makes you sit higher and feel more tippy. It is taking some getting use to. Just like when I went from my old cub cadet to my B7200. Don't be surprised when you first get on it compared to your ZTR and feel like you are way up there. I do not have loaded tires, but plan on getting them filled but only 50% (this would be up to the axle). I agree with everyone about the wet ground, and I agree about the R4's scrubbing the grass in a tight turn. I was surprised about the scrubbing, my B7200 with turfs never did this. Other than that they mow wonderfully and are very manuverable.
