Comparison B2920 vs. ZD326

I had purchased a B2920 with a 60" MMM but I held off a little bit unsure about my real needs. Dealer has been very understanding and has not pressured me at all with anything. They have even let me demo a few things before I make this purchase. I have a JD 737 zero turn now 54" deck 23HP gas Kawi and it does a good job but I'm tired of it. I have a demo ZD323 60" I've tried and I like it but on the sloped hills it bogs down terribly. Its kinda funny, the JD gas never did this, and my thought with a diesel have more torque that the Kubota would not do this but it does. Dealer is getting me a ZD326 60 side discharge and they feel this is what I need for overall need for the zero turn. My yard is about 3 acres with rolling terrain. I like mowing fast and and I've held off off because I don't know how much time difference I will have between the tractor and the zero turn mowing. I'm assuming the 2920 could mow in mid range which dealer said no problem, even on my sloped yard. Any thoughts???

Not sure I'm understanding this. I don't see comparing a tractor side by side with a riding lawn mower. That's worse than comparing apples to oranges. Maybe apples to potatoes, both are sort of crunchy when chewed and not cooked.
Sure, the tractor can add a mowing deck under it or behind it but it will never mow as good as a dedicated lawn mowing machine nor never as fast.
Your looking at a tractor just for mowing? If that's the case then look at a BX but even it is still a fully capable tractor.
Do you not need any of the features of a tractor like tilling, front end loader, maintaining a gravel drive way, clearing snow, moving heavy "stuff", digging a small pond, moving bushes and trees? A riding mower will not do these things but a tractor will.
If you just want to buy something different because you are tired of your riding mower and just want it for mowing and want it to not bog down and mow fast, then try or buy a F model Kubota. The F2680 is 2wd and is perfectly capable of going up and down slopes and a F3080 is 4wd and will do up and down mountains and slopes and flat land. It's different and fun and productive and for enough money you can even add attachments to it unlike the z riding mower. It also does not replace a tractor unless you just want it for mowing, snow removal and cleaning a parking lot plus a few other features.

SO, what's the problem with it? Sounds to me like you're taking advantage of a great dealer.

The ZD 323 with a sixty would be low on power on hills, with a 53" deck it would be better, these units are very well built and carry a lot of weight making them good on the side hills!

The 326 should be much better for you with the hills with the extra power.

Not trying to confuse anyone, I'm asking how fast mowing can you do vs a zero turn? I'd rather take advantage of my dealer and get EXACTLY what I wanted before I made a $10,000 mistake in getting the wrong piece of equipment!!! I'm certainly sorry that I posted in this forum.

Unless you have very steep hills and/or very thick grass, I'd say the 326 w/ 60" will cut about as fast as you can stay on it. I'd also add that probably anything above 6-7mph the quality of the cut will suffer. The ZD series Kubotas' and most other similiar machines are limited mostly by how smooth the ground is. Let me frame this: we used to have 2 acres of woods that I mowed in about 3 hours with my ZT. We have now moved to where I mow 4+ acres of, I guess, field (there are maybe 30 trees, but spread out over the area it's not much to dodge). I started mowing the new place with my 2920 and 60MMM, and I kept my old ZT to mow around the trees. I mow the new place in about the same time (3 hours) with the tractor and old ZT. Yep, that tractor will mow fine in mid range, and actually will mow in high range...the cut isn't nearly as good. I guess what I would suggest is that if you have a lot of stuff to dodge, it's hard to beat a ZT. But the 2920 is fairly nimble, and does just as well on a field as a ZT (my opinion). But also consider the slope, I have just a little bit of slightly sloped property, and don't care to mow it with the tractor....but I also don't like mowing it with a ZT. A small lawn tractor would be much better, and cost less than a ZT.

I have a ZD326 60" deck and a L3010 tractor with a 60" grooming mower and I would alot rather use the ZD mower. For one it's alot faster and does alot neater job at mowing. In matter of fact I have not used the L3010 for mowing in over 3 years. I have 8 acres minus the pond, buildings and house(5 acres of mowing) and it takes me around 3 hours of mowing and cuts out most of the weed eating. The only thing I don't like about the ZD326 is it leaves tracks in the yard from the weight of the mower.
