There was a thread on here not long ago about cabs that might be helpful. In the end, it is going to depend on the individual. A cab makes me feel somewhat removed from the tractor operating experience, almost like remote control or video game. I have to watch clearance all the time and my view of the implements/operation are not as good as on an open station, I have both kinds, and of course mounting and dismounting are complicated by the cab.

On the other hand, I don't have to wear twenty pounds of clothes/boots in the winter or sweat myself to death in the summer, fight insects, sneeze my head off, hit the shower the minute I quite or wear hearing protection.

All that being said, if I was young and healthy and didn't drive a tractor for a living day in and day out, I would go with open station, but I am none of the aforementioned and a cab allows me to operate my tractor when I would otherwise be stuck in the house or truck.

As Triple R said both have advantages and disadvantages dependes on what you are doing with the tractor. If you are around a lots of trees with low limbs you have to be careful as opposed to an open field. I bought my first cabbed tractor last summer and all I can say it sure was nice this winter clearing the driveway. But on a nice spring day I will miss the old open stand tractor.

I've only been the happy owner of a B3030 with a cab since I tool delivery
of it on New Years Eve day,and we've had the winter that wasn't here in
northern Michigan, but I'm very happy I chose to get the cab for sure.
It sure beats freezing my butt off while blowing snow or waiting 30 minutes or
so for the old plow truck to warm up enough to be able to see out the window.
It took me a few times out in it to get the heater adjusted so I wouldn't roast to death even after shedding the insulated coveralls and everything else
I had to bundle myself up with before.I'm sure after using it today that when I start mowing I'll go through a learning curve figuring out the air conditioning too.
Other than that,it will just take some practise getting used to climbing in and out of it and getting used to using the mirrors which are awesome. It's actually easier to see where you're at when backing up to hook up something to the 3 point, and the ease of adjusting the arms and extend the ends is cool too.

Thanks for the replies. I guess it is a luxury to add on to tractors. If you can
afford it $5,000.00 then spoil yourself.

About tractor cabs,

I will strongly suggest that yoo search for the postings and comments
on the B3030 tactor cabsor simply B3030 to see them all as there have been
problems with floor sealing, door and window seals, and fumes from engine exhaust, If the pressurised cabin option is available or is available on the tractor you want o take home you should be fine but please look fior the threads and posts to be sure you are aware of the issues with the tractor cabins that have been noted by owners especially with noise as well

OK...... this thread is some sort of spoof right?

Who could regret buying a factory cabbed tractor?

Pros:

Being able to snowblow all winter in a G-string and tank-top cut off above the navel keeps the neighbors from bothering me...... ever!

Getting in to mow in summer immediately dries up all that sweat you worked up doing yard work or whatever.

Cab allows you to fininsh mowing or bush hogging when a rain shower rolls through. :p

Having tunes to listen to really makes the time fly..... better find more to mow!

Wind changes direction while snowblowing and momentarily covers the windshield....... turn up the music and chuckle thinking about how that used to take your breath away.

A/C keeps your beer cold longer when mowing. :)

Cons:

I had to trim a few branches last year that began to rub the cab.

I had to make a rule for myself to always, ALWAYS, close the door behind me........ even if only moving two inches while hooking up an attachment. NO exceptions.

I had to modify the trim around my 7' overhead door opening slightly to get the tractor inside.

Answering all those questions from folks who've never operated a late model factory cabbed tractor........ "Yes, it does have heat. And air conditioning...... and a stereo". :licking:

We should probably discuss the other features you'll really love, like the extendable side links on the three point hitch, position control, etc. ;)

For some it is not a luxury, but rather a necessity.

Regrets? That I didn't get a cab sooner instead of eating bushels of snow on that open station JD 790 for 4 winters.
But as sunnyside noted below, I'm not impressed with the hydro whine inside the cab of the 3030. I installed a stereo in the cab shortly after buying the tractor. Complete waste of my time. Have to blast it to hear anything and I'd rather not do that. So mostly the stereo sits there idle.

Best thing is to go test drive before deciding and buying. Cabs in general are nice but some are more ergonomic/nicer than others. My biggest CON with the B3030 cab was the noise inside the cab compared to others. The newer ones may be better (test drove 2007). The dealer tried to steer me towards another cab model which was a big improvement -- L3240 I think it was. Almost bought the L cab model but couldn't get an acceptable deal (cash with no trade).
I wound up getting a JD 3720 cab tractor with 18% off list plus 3 years zero interest and I kept my cash in the bank and made a little interest on it.

sunnyside, without a doubt the cabbed 3030 is noisy with the hydro whine. Is the JD3720 much quieter? It is my understanding the Kubota cabbed 3240 is substantially quieter than the 3030.

It's been over a year now, but it seems to me that when I was shopping cabbed tractors, the lowest priced JD with cab was substantially more than a B3030, hence the move from green to orange for me.
The hydro whine inside the cab is an annoyance to be sure, but other than that I'm extremely happy with the tractor.

This is my first tractor and I use it in summer and winter. I would never buy a tractor without a cab. It keeps out biting bugs, dust, heat in the summer, and cold and snow in the winter.

If you have the heater/air conditioner set to bring in fresh air rather than recirculate you should not a problem with exhaust fumes as it creates a bit of outward pressure around the little air leaks, although I never had an exhaust problem when recirculating. The cab does reduce the noise of the engine a bit, but I sill wear protection. I really like my little Kubota.

As many have said, it depends on your needs. I like brush hogging on a nice day, out in the open, because I can pick the day. I would not want to be without the cab in the winter when the driveway has to be cleared and the wind is whipping. If snow removal or working in hot dusty conditions will be your main uses then a cab is more than a luxury. Also, I've never been in a B3030 cab but the L3430 is nice and quiet with no fumes.
Hope this helps.:)

It was 3 yrs ago when I test drove the B3030 cab tractor and I'd be very surprised if Kubota hasn't improved the noise level since then. That's why I recommended test driving tractors prior to deciding/buying -- also for cab ergonomics.
In recent years, the Deere dealers around here are definitely willing to negotiate to get the business versus say 10 years ago --- not the same with Kubota dealers. Hence, there wasn't much difference in the deals between a JD 3320 and Kubota B3030. I moved up to the JD 3720 to get a few more horses. I think Kubota makes a very good tractor and have owned five different ones the past 35 years.

Framer,
I didn't mention the noise level like others did and I certainly should have.It is bothersome to me,couldn't hear the stereo unless it's cranked up to the max too.I've talked to my son that's quite the sound engineer about a set of head phones that would block the whine and also allow me to hear the radio too.I have always worn ear muffs on my other tractors, and anything else that has a gas or diesel engine on it always.I haven't on my B3030 yet only because I need to get the "feel" of it so I'd have a better sense when something might be going amiss.I have thought about adding some sound deadening insulation under the floor mat to see if that helps.
I too close the door with one exception and that is when I reach in to tweak the 3 point lever when hooking something up.If it's going to be moved shut the door always! Mine's a 2007 and seems plenty tight with seals that should last for many years before needing replacement.
The things I don't like in particular:I forget to put the tilt wheel up when exciting, watch the mirrors as they're hard on the head when you run into them, and the fact that the brakes are on the wrong side of the tractor. When using the front mounted snow blower it would help in steering it cause it tends to follow the contoure of the land and being nose heavy it won't turn.I have been studying the hydro pedal and think I can mount a pedal on the left side with a rod going across the floor with an attachment that would hook on and allow dual usage. Then at least I could stab the brakes with my right to swing it one way or the other.
Oh,and I forgot about having to take the trim off the garage door so it would clear it.Mine has 12.4-16 R4's and I'd prefer the 13.6-16 Turf treads which is another inch taller and would fit at all now.I'll be raising my door 4 inches so I can go up in tire size or at least add on chains next with all the way around which should solve the steering problem and get me back out of a couple of inclines that are beside my driveway and easy to go over to far on.Once the nose is down with the blower on it you shift the weight to far forward to have any rear tire traction.
The Deere was ok with the brake pdeals where they should be but I prefer the known durability and longetivity of the Kubota diesel big time period.
