B3030 Coming / Thanks

Hi,

After visiting this site for too long I finally got around to ordering my first tractor and should be the proud owner of one of the first B3030s in the UK sometime next week. I've gone for the FEL+MMM and it will be put to work straightaway on 4 very overgrown acres (wood, garden, orchard, paddock).

I just wanted to thank you all for the useful information you have imparted - it certainly made my decision a lot easier.

And a quick question - I've got to pull up and re-lay a tired lawn. Will it be feasible to use the bucket to scrape/cut the turf off the lawn or is it too blunt an instrument for such a job? In addition, could I get away with dragging the bucket over the soil to level it (area 20m x 20m) - or should I go and order a box scraper? I'd rather avoid buying yet another expensive implement if I can avoid it...

How are you planning on redoing your lawn? Could you get some good topsoil and top dress and seed it. I have done this on tired lawns with good success. It is the easiest way to do the job. You FEL would be great for spreading out the topsoil and leveling it, and should be able to be done so very little hand raking needed.

I had thought about top-dressing it but I've got some major problems with bushes/trees that have erupted through the surface and there's quite a bit of digging/felling to be done and I'm going to be left with something heavily pock-marked. Hence thought it easier just to level the whole area and reseed. Basically my new property had been neglected for the last 25-30 years and the 'lawn' has largely disappeared!

I have been looking in to hiring a hydoseeder/stone burrier that will level and prepare the surface ready for seeding: Blec USA

Anyone had any experience using one of those?
