B3030 or L2800HST

Which tractor would you buy if you could buy them for essentially the same price? Use will be for finish mowing, landscaping, loader use, etc on 3 acres? Will be rear mounted mower. I'm assuming the 2800 is a heavier duty tractor overall. Thanks in advance for the responses.

If I was finish mowing any reasonable sized property the B3030 with a MMM would be my choice.

I have a L3400HST - same tractor as the L2800 with some more ponies. I would have considered the B3030 very seriously if I was finish mowing at all.

The B3030 is around a 1000 lbs lighter than an L series. Better for ground engaging work, but not good on your lawn. I had a similar choice and chose the B3030HSDC over the L series for just that reason.

With the exception of the mowing work ( I have a nice "grass cutter" besides) those are the exact same reasons I bought a B3030. And for MY uses..I went with the industrial tires and find that when I "get in over my head" I'll spin the tires before I can get close to breaking anything on the tractor itself. Works out good for a "tractor newbie"... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have used b2150and current b2910 both with 60 inch belly mowers for a total of 16 years on 8 acres. Four acres lawn and four field. Does great job on lawn and with the 30 hp I was able to sell my bush hog and do the field with the belly mower. I also have a FEL with 60 inch bucket that I take on and off in less than 5 min. My next move will be to the b3030 to replace the b2910. Good luck.

I went through a similar exercise for 10 acres and bought the B3030. I don't regret it for a second. Not only is the B3030 lighter for mowing, it's got a tighter turning radius. The L2800 was more tractor than I needed and I really like the up-market features on the B3030.

It's offered in HST also...I have one with 110hrs on it.

No shuttle shift transmission available. The 8x4 or HST are the only ones offered. You have to go to the L30 series to get a 8x8 shuttle shift.
