For those of you that have changed your filters, was the replacement filter different that the filter that came on the tractor?

I purchased all 3 filters. Engine oil, HST, and hydraulic. There were no issues with the Engine and HST filter. However, the new hydraulic filter is shorter and the end that mates to the tractor is quite a bit different. The threads look the same, but the filter gets tight to turn within a half turn. To prevent any damage, I didn't try to force it. The old filter spins on with ease. The new filter matches the number on the box as well as Messicks What Fits my Tractor Filters page.

Part#:66021-36060

Has anyone seen this problem?

Bobby are you saying it gets tight within a half turn of bottoming out? Or it only goes on a half turn and then binds up?

If it binds up when you start it has threads that are not fully formed, I have had this problem last year various times using Wix filters. It was frequent enough that I started looking very close at each filter when I picked them up.

The different length is a problem related to choice of manufacture, Whoever is making replacement filters this year is not necessarily the same as who made it last year nor will it have to be the same next year... Vendors change regularly for a lot of reason$.

As for your binding problem, if the threads are too bad you will have to exchange it, if there is only a small burr it will likely clean up as you turn it on...KennyV

There is really alot more to the differences. I have attached the picture. I mentioned the mating end was different. Notice that the filter that came on the tractor when new(left), the threads and holes are recessed. On the new Kubota replacement filter(right), the threads and holes protrude. Secondly, the holes on the original filter are much larger both on the flange and inside the filter. On the new Kubota filter, the holes are much smaller. Length is definitely different, and I think the threads may be different as well since it gets tight just as you put it on and start to turn.

They are different filters. One is a HST filter the other is a hydraulic filter. Kubota did this so you could not get them mixed up.

Help me out. Go to this page and tell me which one it should be.

Kubota B3200HSD Parts

I bought all 3 filters.

I used this filter on the engine oil.
Filter $10.31
Part#:HH160-32093

I used this filter on the left side of the tractor for HST.
HST Oil Filter $11.47
Part#:HH660-36060(White)

The only filter I had left was this one and it doesn't match the one I took off from the right side of the tractor. I can't find another filter on the tractor where this one would be used. Also, the list of filters for the B3200 doesn't include any additional filters that would match the one that I just removed.

I'd call Messick's and ask for help, they're great. I can't tell you which filter to buy, but I can tell you I had a heck of a time at the dealer the first time I bought hydraulic/hst filters for my B2710, the parts guy said they get them confused. On top of that, the new parts had new part numbers that superceded the old ones. Once I got it right, I wrote it down in the manual so I'd remember what to buy the next time.

The last number you gave above should be the correct filter for the right side of the tractor. The filter on the left in your picture should match your filter with the above number. I have a filter and will check the number and report back this evening.

I believe the filter you need is HH670-37710. That should be the one on the left in your picture. It is called the Hydraulic suction filter. Not sure why there is such confusion with these. Kubota needs to standardize things.:)

Just bought a B3200. I think this post will be very helpful when I come up on the first 50 hour.
