I searched the forums and didnt find anyone else having this issue so here's my question.

After running my B3200 for the last week with no issues, yesterday the throttle lever started not staying in place when I throttle it up. I pull it to full throttle and when i release it the lever springs back and the engine goes back down to about 1500 RPM. I followed the linkage from the lever down and I noticed a spring right before it turns and heads to the engine area. So anyone have any ideas if something came out of adjustment or what might be causing this to happen all of a sudden?

Also if anyone could direct me to a place that has the throttle diagram online I would be greatful. I know Kubota doesnt publish them, hopefully someone has a rogue copy out there. :)

Thanks

There's a spring that is used to keep tension against some friction plates which hold the throttle lever in position (otherwise, vibration will cause it to throttle back down on its own). You can adjust tension of the spring with a nut (which is backed by another nut to lock it down). You can see this from under the tractor, just below where the throttle lever pokes through the dash. Should be able to see the spring and the two nuts.

At least on my B, the black plastic dash/cowl cover would need to come off to get to the nuts for adjustment. That doesn't look trivial to me, since you'd have to disconnect the dash wires and the cable for the hour meter, and maybe even pull the steering wheel off. Not sure, as I didn't try it myself. In my case, the lever was too tight, and I was able to shoot some lube into the friction plates to solve the problem for now.

Thank you, I'll check those friction plates in the morning.

Could not get the steering wheel off for the life of me so I went down to our new local Kubota dealer to look at a diagram. While I was there I found out my used Kubota is still under factory warranty from the previous owner until August 2012 and all I had to do was take it in to have them repair it.

Will post the results as to what was causing it when its all done.

Dealership said the nut had fallen off. Now its almost too tight. May have to take it back and have it loosened a bit. Either way it works now.

glad to hear your all fixed and up and running again. thanks for the info too as i always wondered how that system worked to stay in place and what to do if it became loose or wore out. now i have a place to start if i need it. thanks.

Mine was too tight, I loosened the adjustment slightly and it's been good ever since. It sounds as if the L series has the same kind of arrangement.

Did you have to remove your steering wheel?

No, my adjustment is located far enough down that it's not near the wheel at all. Different tractor, same kind of adjustment.

Well I had to take the tractor back to the dealer today. They got the lever too tight and it almost seemed to be getting tighter as I went along. May have just been me getting tired towards the end of the day making the lever seem tighter. Either way their going to try and set it closer to what a new one is set at. I would have done it myself, but I don't have a steering wheel puller that will work on that tiny little steering wheel. Even though I had to take it back I really like my Dealer, they bend over backwards to help me.
