That's odd. Around here, the pricing on a Massey is going the most economical you can get VS a Kubota or JD. I paid $3k less than what JD was charging and about $1k less than Kubota.
Where is here out of curiosity?
In Nebraska where I bought mine, (to take to my property in NW Montana) a 36 hp kubota was on par with an equivalent Mahindra (both cab tractors) but by best friends dad was an Agco dealer and got me a 42hp deluxe cab tractor ( 2 year old new over stock, but same model year) knocked 8K off the other quotes between discounts and higher trade for my JD than the other two dealers were going to give me.
When it all comes down to it, its all relative. They all have service, repair and warranty issues. Just like, Ford, Dodge, Chevy. Good and bad points to all, but I think we are always impartial to the one we own at the time.
And I agree with the other post about JD and Mahindra marketing to a wider market share to non AG communities, where Massey, Agco, Challenger is still mostly geared towards ag and rural home and acerage owners. I have had a couple 60 and 80hp Mahindra ( made in India, but not taking anything away from them on that) open station tractors that I bought for acerages that I managed and I wont knock them, pound for pound and horsepower they are much less expensive and every bit as tough, just lack a few of the extras and comforts that come standard on some of the 'American ' models.
