B7001 starting problems

I know it's a grey market but it is a starting problem and this seemed the place to query. When I turn the key to get the glow plugs going sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. But when I go to start I get nothing. This all started when I stalled it as I went thru a rut, it made a 'clunk' sound as it stalled. I went to start and got nothing. I brought my truck ot and jumped it and it started no problem. I took the battery out and had it tested and it was low but I had it charged for a couple of hours on a deep cycle charger and was told the battery was good. Re-installed the battery, glow plugs came on, went to start, small pop and smoke from positive terminal and then nothing. I can still jump start it and when it's running at operating speed the volt reading at the battery seems high, approx 15-17 volts depending on engine speed. Suggestions?

The bat. cable terminal may be bad. corroded inside.

Sounds like a bad connection in the starter circuit. Inspect and clean both ends of each battery cable. And as Flylo said, could be a bad cable too.

Fixed! It's always the easy ones that seem to stump me
