Hello everyone, I'm a new member but happy to be here! I look forward to learning a lot, especially since I'm a tractor noob. I just purchased a B7100 4x4 with a front loader and backhoe and really enjoy it, It's a work horse and has helped me move boulders and dirt around my yard. However, I think I have a problem with my machine and hope someone here can help me diagnose / tell me what I need to do to fix it.

Tonight I removed the backhoe because I want to run a box scraper to level some ground. removing the back hoe wasn't too big of a deal ( hoping it's easy to line it up and put it back on when the time comes ) Anyways, I noticed the raise/lower lever doesn't do anything when I move it. If I move it forward nothing happens at all and when I move it down the RPM of the tractor drops and it makes a noise in the gear case but the shafts do not move. No matter what position the lever is in the raise/lower shafts under the seat doesn't move.

I don't know if this is normal and i'm just doing something wrong and need to learn the technique in order to make the shafts move for raise/lower or if something is frozen up / broken causing it not to move. The actual PTO works just fine, that's what turned the pump for the backhoe and I had no problems with that, in all 3 speeds but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get the raise/lower shaft to operate. I have tried it while in neutral, with the clutch in, and moved the lever both directions with no luck. No matter what I have tried the shafts have never moved, Just puts a load on the motor in one direction and does nothing in the other. Any advice you can give me? Obivously when running a scarper blade I need to be able to raise/lower it. I'm hoping it's a simple fix, Everything else on the tractor is working perfectly and I'm very happy with it. I really hope I didn't buy a problem child and if I did i'm hoping someone here can help me get it working. Thanks again, Eagerly waiting for replies.

Can't really give any help but things to consider:

The three point hydraulics may have been shut off for backhoe use??
Try some adjusting on the three point control? There should be a slide adjustment?:)

To expand on Egon's thoughts, there is a valve at the front of the seat that switches hydraulic flow for the TPH. (on/bypass to rear port) It's probably in the bypass position to provide power for the back hoe.
If that's not it, then pictures of the hoses would help us figure out the flow.
The fact that the lever loads the motor indicates a dead head, no flow condition.

The OP mentioned the hoe is run off a pto pump but maybe the 3ph was disabled in fear it would affect the hoe? Gotta check that handle under the seat the looks like T coming out of the tractor. It may be orange so blends in. It redirects the hydraulics out the aux port near the handle. The handle can be accidentally kicked into a different position but mine is tough to turn.

Also - does it have a "lowering speed adjustment knob" that's been cranked closed?

On my Kubotas it's a knob on the front of the seat platform about ankle high.

Thank you for all the replies. I read my full manual that came with the tractor and I don't recall reading anything about this knob. The backhoe is fully disconnected as of right now. I will take some pictures of the tractor and upload them shortly and also look for this little mystery knob you are all mentioning.

Thank you so much everyone, Much appreciated. Hopefully it's just something stupid due to my lack of knowledge on tractors. Glad to be here so I can learn. For what it's worth this little 7100 is a work horse. At first I was worried it was going to be too small to move large rocks around and do what I needed it to do but it has literally blown away all of my expectations up to this point. Give me a few minutes, Will reply shortly.

I don't really see a knob anywhere. I do see the little colored bolt that i'm not sure what it is for but there are really no knobs anywhere. Here are the pics. Thanks again.

I have the arms, I haven't put them on yet. I'm just trying to get the shafts to spin first.. I just barely removed the backhoe late last night and then noticed the 3 point lift shafts were not spinning. Once I figure out how to get them working, I'll install the arms. Should have mentioned this.. Sorry about that.

No problem I hope you get the help and back to work. They go down by weight of the three point and up by the fluid. The lever only moves them up but let's them down. I would try it put together.
