I just spoke to a Firestone/Bridgestone dealer, and was informed that the G-2 in a 21x8.00-10 (used by the B7100,B7200, and B7300) has been back ordered for over a year. About the only option currently available is a 20.5x8.00-10 boat trailer tire. His only suggestion for getting traction (for 4WD applications) is to have the trailer tires grooved across the tread.

If anyone out there knows where I can get Firestone/Bridgestone TL G-2's, or any other decent turf tire in a 20.5x8.00-10, or 21x8.00-10, new, or good-used, please let me know.

Thanks,

We just bought new turf tires for our B7100 last week. We ordered them from the Kubota dealer. They ended up being the Firestone G2 21x8-10's. They ordered them out of Rome, Georgia (not sure where). They cost us $130 each + $15 shipping - had them in 2 days.

Dang, I thought I had it... Looked in the shed; they are the wrong size. I have 23x8.5-12 in good shape from when I switched to R4...

Bringing this up from oblivion, since I am tired of patching my front tire tubes twice a month, I am ready to replace them. Here is a good piece of information I found on Firestone:

Due to the design and function of mechanically driven front wheel drive tractors, certain conditions could exist which can cause irregular or rapid front tire wear.

The front drive tires are smaller than the rear drive tires and are designed to run at an overspeed of 1% to 5% over that of the rear tires in order to obtain maximum contribution of the front drive axle. This overspeed, combined with front-end alignment factors and steering forces, creates conditions under which the front drive tires could wear at about twice the rate of the rear tires. If a tractor exhibits irregular or rapid front tire wear, the following corrective action should be taken:

Check front-end alignment and set per vehicle manufacturer's recommendations. R-1 lug bar designs are especially sensitive to improper toe adjustment of the front end.

If the front wheel drive is the type which can be engaged or disengaged by the operator, check for proper operation of the engaging device and proper usage by the operator. If the tractor is operated on pavement with the front axle engaged, tire scuffing will occur with premature tire wear resulting. When operating on pavement, the front axle should be disengaged to reduce front tire wear.

Check for proper matching of front and rear tires for correct overspeed. Tire rolling circumference matching between front and rear axle is very critical to tire and drive train performance. Make sure that the tires on the tractor are a combination that is recommended by the vehicle manufacturer for the specific model. When replacing tires, both tires on the same axle should be replaced to insure matched static loaded radius dimensions.

Check for correct tire inflation pressure. Front tire pressure should be maintained at maximum allowable level. (Check the load tables in the Firestone Data Book for inflation pressure.)

Check tractor for proper load distribution. Follow the recommendations given in the tractor operator's manual. Generally a 40% front / 60% rear weight distribution ratio is recommended.

Emphasis by me, I truly had no clue.

Ply rating and use designation will also make a difference.

Those turf tires with chains will out perform R4 and AG tires in most conditions except pavement. I run Turfs and chains all year round on my turf tired tractor. I would not groove the tire as there is not enough tread to make a difference. I too am looking for the same sized tire for my little B4200. Emailed Kubota and they replied with there parts department phone number. Never a good sign when they wont quote a price on email. I am amazed how these original turfs are looking after 30 years and 1700 hours. Last ten years the use of tire chains means little wear due to slipping.

I found these at Costco.com:

Greenball XC-Master Rear 6-Ply ATV Tire

I sure would love the grip, but they are wider than those I have now.

Decisions, decisions.

Edit: looks like the weight load is pathetic, only 300 pounds, not enough for tractor even I dont have front loader.

There is an ag tire dealer who often posts here, and advertises, too, I think. Miller Tire?? Try to find them, since they have seemed knowledgeable/reasonable in past threads.
