I just picked up a 1982 b7100 4WD with 1900 hrs on it at an auction. Upon pulling the dipstick I noticed thier was deisal fuel smell to the dipstick and it was over full. Any ideas? also, I find out it occasionly would run backwards. Stuck injector?
Thanks

Check the diaphram in the fuel pump, they were famous for getting a hole in them and allowing fuel in the oil, and many times, oil in the fuel.

Well, I dunno, I have been workin' on these tractors for over 15 years, and I have "never" seen a hole in a fuel pump diaphragm. Maybe it only happens in some areas. That's about all I work on are old B's and L's. Problem is more than likely your nozzles (injector tips) Runnin' old fuel, causing the tips to stay open or improperly spray into the combustion chamber. Makes the fuel "drip" rather than disperse. Then the feul runs down through the rings into the crankcase. You can get brand new nozzles for this thing for about 60 bucks apiece I believe. They can also be leak tested and rebuilt, but for the time needed to do that, is is almost cheaper to just replace them, know they are at factory spec, and off yago. Also, get some fuel conditioner, maybe flush the fuel tank, new fuel filter as well.

I'll put my vote in for the diaphram.

Well folks it was not as easy as a bad diphram on the fuel pump. I guess my next move is check injectors or the seal on the injector pump

It shouldn't be the seal on the injection pump. Start with the nozzles.
