B7100 question

This is another dumb question from someone new to these little tractors , but I didn't find an answer when I did a search, what is difference between B7100, B7100 HSD old type, and B7100 HSD new type ? The reason I ask, went to Tractorsmart.com to order filters,and found this question. I have a B7100HD112XX. Thanks !!

I have no idea what a "B7100HD112XX" is. I would guess that the model number on your tractor ID plate has a different number.

As far as I know, the Kubota B7100, as well as most other B-series Kubotas, had the following suffixes (note that the D typically indicated 4wd and the E indicated 2wd):

B7100D - Gear Drive / 4wd
B7100E - Gear Drive / 2wd

B7100HST-D - Older style Hydrostatic 4wd
B7100HST-E - Older style Hydrostatic 2wd

B7100HSD - Newer style Hydrostatic 4wd
B7100HSE - Newer style Hydrostatic 2wd


Note 1: I have seen the hydrostatic B7100s listed both ways shown above; typically the "HST-D" model number was used in older literature and the "HSD" model number was used in the newer literature; I therefore made some assumptions and added the "older style" and "newer style" labels above.

Note 2: I'm pretty sure, but not 100%, that the air, oil and fuel filters are the same for all of the B7100s. If I remember correctly, Kubota has changed the part number for the oil filter, so there will be more than one oil filter number number for the B7100; either one will suffice.

Note 3: Visually, I call the B7100s that came either without a factory ROPS or came with a orange square style ROPS the "older style". I call the B7100s with the blue-colored rounded ROPS the "newer style". This could be wrong. Also note that this generality could be wrong or deceiving since a person could add a newer "rounded" style ROPS to an older B7100, like I did.

Note 4: I label the B7100s with the 4-lug front wheels as "older style" and the B7100s with the 6-lug front wheel the "newer style". Again, there is room for error here.

So, do you think that you have a "newer" style or an "older" style B7100?

If you have not already done so, be sure and become familiar with the "thermo-siphon" cooling system that the B7100 (and a lot of other older B-series Kubotas) uses. I've posted this information many many times on this board in the past. The highlights are: There is no water pump nor thermostat; it is VERY important to pre-mix the water and antifreeze and use no more than 50% antifreeze. I'll give more details again if needed.

Just curious...does you "Gunner" name have anything to do with the B-52? Being an old ex-KC-135 Boom Operator I used to have a few friends that were B-52 gunners (pulled a lot of the old SAC alert with them).
