While brush hawgin', I decided to climb a 4 foot ditch.... before i could turn, my left wheel hit a tree and I snapped the steering shaft. anyone ever replace 1 ? my local parts guy told me it is about 94 bucks.. does that sound right?

Note to self: do not drink more than a 12 pack of beer while cutting grass !

Could you be a little more specific. Steering shaft? or a tie rod (keeps both front wheels pointing the same way) or a drag link ( connects the steering box to the left front wheel).

You goy my curiosity going.

You must be talking about the drag link because I just bought one for my 1995 B7100 that was about $100 including tax. The ball joint rubber boot split and fell off on mine.

When I replaced mine I did not have a tie rod puller small enough to drive between the ball joint and steering arm, so I had to make one out of a flat pry bar that I ground on the grinder to just fit around the bolt, then I put a piece of wood against the steering arm to give me something to pry against and not scar the paint. The front one you can just tap loose from the bottom with a plastic mallet.

Mine went on pretty easy.

Good Luck.
