The clutch on my tractor is giving me a headache. the tractor has 700 hrs. which seems a tad early for clutch problems. I tried adjusting freeplay and could not improve the performance.I got an estimate to replace my cluttch, pressure plate, throwout bearing etc. for $ 535.00. is this a reasonable price? I investigated parts and they ran in the $200.00 range?

Clutches will wear according to how they are used… One hour of misuse can be equivalent to thousands of normal use… Just ride the clutch a little while doing some heavy work, you can even heat check the flywheel to the point it needs resurfaced.
On a smaller sized tractor replacing the clutch is not a big job, if you are familiar with what you are going to have to do, jump in and do it. Easy afternoon project… $500 is not too much to have it done; if you think who ever is doing the job is able to do the work. KennyV.
