Oh well, here goes. After almost 600 hours on my B7300, I need to split the tractor.

Last week I took off the mid mower in order to use my sickle bar mower to hack down the meadow (was about 3' tall). All went well and I put the sickle bar mower back, re-installed the mid mower and put it away. Two days later, I needed to use the tractor and box blade, so I took the Mid mower off and found lots and lots of oil all over the top of the deck. Looked under and found the propeller shaft (goes from clutch housing to transmission) has wound up with tall grass and had damaged the oil seal on the clutch end of the shaft. That's never happened before. It was a pretty good leak too, about one drip every 10 seconds while engine is running, though once the engine is stopped, it slows to one drip every 2 or 3 minutes.

Anyone else have this happen?

Refered to the WSM, says I need to split the tractor, lots of stuff to remove. All for a $4.00 oil seal (which I might add is out of stock!). Not to worry, at the rate I'm going, it's going to be two weeks before I get to it. I'll follow up later.

I'll post pictures later this week. Grass had actually gotten beyond the seal.

I didn't have to pull the clutch housing, which saved me some time. I seperated the clutch housing from the frame, and pulled the engine/clutch housing as an assembly.

Hardest part was getting the linkages for the cruse control and parking brake back together. Digital pictures help.

Total time was around 7 hours, lots of stuff to take off, but it's over now and no leaks!

You need to fabricate a guard for that. i've seen the same thing happen on rear pto's that don't have a cap.

splitting a B series, photo series. In the last photo, the old seal has been removed, note the grass in the shaft.

And yes, I'll be adding a shield for this.

I am having electrical issue and cannot seem to find WSM? I used a Kubota WSM site and they charged me for a parts manual! No reply guess I am screwed on that one. . . Where did you get your WSM please?
