I'm changing all the fluids and filters on my tractor, and was reminded (when reading another post on the subject) that the last couple of times I've done it that I have not cleaned out the transmission strainer. I've tried to get it out before using an adjustable wrench and it didn't want to come out, and not having the right tool I didn't want to strip it.

Two questions...

1) I learned today that the B2230 bolt is 26mm /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. That looks about right for mine, I think. I checked my shop manual and it doesn't happen to say what the size is for mine - is it also 26mm?

2) Is it a normal (clockwise tighten, counterclockwise remove) thread or is it reverse threaded?

It has been cleaned out before - I had to take the tractor in to have the steering column fixed while it was still under warranty and had the dealer do a complete service on it. But it is definately due to be cleaned again.

Thanks!

I put the now famous 27mm (26mm) socket on the bolt and the biggest 1/2 inch drive craftsman ratchet I have. After a few LIGHT taps on the ratchet with a 3 lb hammer I proceeded to tap HARD. That did the trick. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It probably would be easier with a 1/2 inch breaker bar.
The threads are regular.

Well, I don't have a 1/2" breaker bar. I've used my 1/2" torque wrench for tough bolts (it is a lot longer than my 1/2" socket), but if "tapping" with a hammer is involved I'm thinking it is a good reason to get a 1/2" breaker bar.

And a 26mm socket /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Thanks for the reply!
