Dont know about where YOU live...but I contacted Chevron here about their fluid...LOL...ONLY way I could buy it HERE was "bulk" which meant 1500 gallon quantities!! ( just a tad bit of "overkill" for my needs)

I called Chevron last week and they said they can deliver 5 Gallon buckets to thier dealers. They said they can put in a special request if we have problems getting it. Chevron said they can find the closest dealer in the location you live.

Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF part number is 255237. Make sure to ask for it in 5 gallon bucket.

I called the Chevron rep. and found out that Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF in 5 gal. buckets is available in California, not in our part of the country.

He said if there is a market for the stuff in 5 gal. buckets in other parts of the counrty he will see what he can do to make it available.

If I find somthing out I'll post it.

The Chevron Rep. that I am working with just notified me that he has a 5 gallon bucket ready to ship for me. He said the price will be around $80.00.

He will get it shipped out A.S.A.P. so I can see if it takes care of the problems that some of us are experianceing. He seems to be eager to see how it works out.

He also said if there is enough customers he will have certain locations fill 5 gallon buckets.

I will be out for the rest of the week so it will be some time next week before I do the switch.

I'll keep you all posted.

I just recieved the five gallon bucket of Cheveron Synthetic All-Weather THF.
I will be planning to change out the HST fluid some time this week or next. Then I'll run the tractor and see if it takes care of the power steering problem.
I'll post the results after the run.

I sent you a private message. Wondering what your results were from the fluid change.

I am having the same problem with my B2410. Power steering is fine when the machine is cool, but if I mow hard in high range at or around 1.5 hours the power steering will start to go away. More so when the hydro is pushed to near wide open, slowing down the steering returns some. This must be heat related. We are around 90 today and it happened again.

I’ve put about 70 hours on the machine since mid June, has about 335 now. I used it once when I bought it with the fluids that were in it and had no problems mowing about 2.5 hours strait. I then changed all fluids and filters, used SUDT. Transmission fluid and screen looked like new when I did them.

I’m wondering if the fluid is breaking down, a hose failing, not enough pump design? Very frustrating, I need to find the answer. It’s worse when wide open full speed in high range. The way I mow, the last part is the only place smooth enough to allow these speed bursts, by then the machines steering is acting strange. Guess I need to mow the fast areas first before it warms up. For the steering effort to increase at least four fold (estimation) and become aggravating can’t be good for internal wear. Normally it’s one finger steering, when it starts degrading its two hand turning. I need to figure out what’s going on here. All screens and filters are clean also, water temp fine, fan belt tight.

Hello orangebluegreen,
I sent you a private message on my 30 day test result. Please check it out.

For all other members that are intrested in the results please read on. It is post that I wrote on 9-14-2006:

Well switching to Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF in my B7500 has exceeded my expectations.

Please read my other fourm titled:
B7500 HST Power Steering and 3 Point Lift Problems in High Temp.

After a month of using my B7500 with Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF under different working conditions here are the results.

A) Fluid temp. averaged 7 deg. cooler. (This might not seem like a lot but less friction=less heat.)

B) Less hydro pump noise.

C) Less transaxle gear noise.

D) No jerky power steering problems at 90+ deg. on a good load at full engine RPM's.

E) No 3 point hitch lifting problems at 90+ deg. on a good load at full engine RPM's.

From my evaluation it seems like it performs better than Kubota Super UDT.

Anyone that has similar problems that I had in the past I would recommend trying Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF.

Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF fluid spec. is designed to use in Kubota equipment that require Super UDT.

Your welcome,

If I can be of any help getting you Chevron Synthetic All-Weather THF please let me know by sending me a private message.
Most Chevron Dealers only stock it in bulk and this is what most of the members have been running into. Most dealers don't want to sell it or can't get it in small quantities.

juat a note which may be relievant. here in Australia, where it is quiet often over 90 deg, we dont get Super UDT, only the normal UDT. i have never seen the problems you are describing before. i wonder if they dont bring the SUDT into Australia because it cannot handle the heat.
