B7500 radiator.

My dealer warned me: Keep that radiator grill clean. 2nd hour mowing and 25 hours on the engine I glance at my guages and the needle is in the RED! The engine was dropping antifreeze from the over flow tube (like it's supposed to in such cases). Parts of what I mow is not totally grass covered so dust boils are common and motors suck air and guess what's in the air? DUST! I shut her down, popped open the hood, and wiped of the outside grill. I removed the grill screen (the one in front of the radiator) and cleaned it too, but it wasn't that bad. The outside grill gets covered too easy IMHO. Anyway to help get air to the engine?
Oh, after letting it set a few minutes I started her up and the temp dropped to normal and mowed another hour without a problem.

Exact same thing happened to me on my B7500HST.

I now always make sure both the screen on the radiator and
the front grill are always clean.

The front grill gets pretty easily clogged with dust, so I brush it off with a soft brush.

I've had the same thing happen with my B2710, except I keep an eye on the temperature gauge and have not let it get much above 1/2 way up before stopping to clean the grill and screen. I use a small soft paint brush in the field, but prefer blowing it out with the air gun in the shop (careful to not damage any fins on the radiator of course).

It's one advantage of the BX that nobody ever seems to mention...the air flow is exactly the opposite direction. the grill is under the steering wheel, the screen is directly in the firewall and the radiator is where the fuel tank is on the bigger botas. It's easy to look down and see the state of things and to wipe clean the smooth grill with your hands when the finings clog it. You don't even have to slow down the tractor or move off the seat, just lean over and wipe em off...

why don't they do this with the other tractors? It seems so logical to put it in this configuration for the reasons stated above.

That does look like a neat idea to me. I also wondered if that wouldn't blow more hot air away from you instead of toward you.

Yah, I noticed that too the first time I did a "big" mowing job that generated a lot of dust and grass particles. When I was putting Lucy away, I pulled the whole grill assembly off (two thumb screws on top), and also the screen in front of the radiator. Took them over to the side of the house & blew them both out with a water hose, then shook them dry.

Never had any heat problems before or after.

I am hoping the new model we are hearing about (?) is a BX7500, like the B model but with modern features like a reverse flow radiator and a fuel tank under the seat--oh well --I can dream.
My BX despite the reverse flow radiator has tried to overheat several times--grass and dust and cotton wood wisps had clogged the screen and the radiator. I generally blow it out with my air hose and all is back to normal. I wish it had a bigger radiator--I think the 7500 may also need more capacity from what y'all say.
If they took a 7500, mounted the BX type reverse flow system, added a big cup holder, position control and a few other things--called it a BX7500--I want one--now.
Glueguy, I saw your pic from way back, nice unit, I have a friend who wanted a BX back home but I think I talked him into a 7500! He is not a computer person but wanted to know how large is your boxblade and how the machine handles it. He has quite a bit of area to mow around trees and beds but also a rough field and a woodlot thus my suggestion of the 7500.--Oh, he also wants to know about the loader, which one to get? Do you have a belly mower deck or just a 3-point. Is a suspended type available for the 7500 like on the BX or just the wheeled type? Maybe I should have kept that 7500! J

I have a Woods GB48 (48"). It is HEAVY. Forget the exact weight on it, but it is close to 500#. Nice blade, and I realize after using it that the weight is very important. According to Kubota, a B7500 should be able to handle a 54" boxblade. However, I have stalled/spun on a couple of occasions while trying to load up the boxblade too much. As long as I don't engage submerged boulders, it works just fine. T&T is almost mandatory.

I have the LA302 loader, which I think is the largest available on the B7500.

Sorry for changing this thread so much but Glueguy how did your Top and Tilt experiment come out--that was you correct? I assume by top and tilt you are not referring to position control such as the 2410 has?
Yeah, I know about the west--lived in Arizona, still own property there and had rocks and cactus but be that as it may--roun' hea' we got's to mow or we would not be able to find our dogs. J

I bought Lucy with the Gearmore T&T installed. It's great, and I wouldn't be without it.

I was going to experiment with a PC substitute. Some other things have come up, and haven't gotten a round "tuit", but it's still on the agenda.
