B7510 throttle speed

I just picked up my new 7510 on friday and was bush hogging over the weekend. On Sunday, I noticed that even though I had the throttle all the way up, the RPM's were not quite at where they should be to mow (it was at 2500 RPM rather than 2700 RPM). Do you guys think I need an adjustment? If so, should the adjustment be with the linkage or the throttle screw itself? When I move the throttle linkage while the tractor is off, it is touching both the bottom end screw and top end screw.

What size brush hog are you using and/ or how heavy was the material you were cutting. Either of these could be a factor if you are loading the tractor heavily.

I have a 4' Howse brush hog. The weeds were about 2' high but not very thick. Even if I was standing still it was still not up to the mark the dealer told me it should be at when I'm mowing.

My B7500 runs at PTO speed with the 48" Landpride brush hog.

I know this does not address your engine speed issue, but what did your dealer say about break in rpms?

I think the break-in rpm's are lower than full pto speed. better check owners manual. You may not want to mention this to dealer.

As Nitroxn said, do you really want to be running that new tractor engine at full RPM right out of the box?

My understanding is that you should not run full RPM for a while. Exactly what you should do is not clear. Even the manuals don't seem to be too specific.

I was lucky with my B2910 as I was doing mostly backhoe and loader work, so I did not need full RPM like should be used with a mower. So what I did, was start at 1500 RPM and run at that speed max for the first ten hours. Then each ten hours afterwards I increased it a bit, until when I hit 50 hours I was full PTO speed when I wanted to be.

But I think most here would advise keeping RPM below max for some period of time. On my BX I think the manual says not to run at full RPM for the first 50 hours, but it doesn't give a max RPM to hold it at during that period.
