I'm planning to buy a B7610 and I want to get a backhoe. Probably a Woods. I see from searching this forum that some have the BH6500. Is this the biggest one you can put on the 7610? Would the Groundbreaker-x work (BH70-X)?

Also, would you get the pump or use the tractor hydraulics?

Thanks!

The B7610 implement hydraulic pump is only 4.4 gpm. If this is not enough to adequately run the backhoe of your choice then you must get a backhoe with a pto pump. It's that simple.

The Woods site lists the PTO HP requirements for the BH70-X at 18-40, so the B7610 (which has 18) is at the very bottom. Would that mean the 7610 wouldn't work well with that backhoe? I suppose that hp requirement is for driving the optional 6gpm pump. They don't seem to give the pto hp requirements for the 6500 or 7500.

Sizewise, which is the best match? I'd like the 70 because of the curved boom and thumb.

I would say you are in the required hp range for that BH. Sure 40hp will not bog the motor down like 18hp will under a load but your not using this in a commercial application so I wouldn't sweat it and get the one you like not one you don't.

My opinion, you'll be OK with the BH70-X on B7610. I've recommended this setup in the past, because IMHO the BH70-X is really a bit too small for a B2630/B3030 and better suited to the B7610. Woods probably wouldn't make a subframe kit for it if they didn't think it would work. The BH70-X wants 4-6 gpm, so if 4.4 gpm is the correct number for the B7610 implement pump, you won't need the optional pump. All flow really determines is how fast the cylinders operate, and most of the time you don't want that operate at max speed anyway. Get the thumb too!

By the way, you didn't say whether or not you're getting a FEL but if you want a backhoe, it isn't optional... it's a MUST.

I talked to Woods about the backhoe selection for a B7610, and they said that the BH70x hoe should be used with counterweights to offset the weight of the backhoe for stability. Apparently, the tractor is somewhat front light with this combination. They recommended the Bh6000 as a better match for this model, and sent me a copy of the manual on it. It certainly was good support from them, and a comprehensive reply. The B7800, B2630, B3030 are just enough longer, and heavier to carry the weight of this hoe without needing any counterweight besides the loader which is necessary in all cases of course. The weight of a Woods hoe is centered further to the rear than the BH on my BX22, or the new Kubota BH75, and that makes quite a difference.

Does the subframe needed for Woods backhoes permit use of the MMM on the B7610? I imagine the 3pt. hitch arms have to come off when the BH goes on.
