B7610 vs. BX

Has anybody owned these two machines? If so, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the two. Are they completely different or somewhat similar in their overall abilities?

Basically, I'm wondering if it's worth moving up to the 7610 (much greater potential?) or just staying with my (paid off) BX2200. I have more property now and feel the need for a larger machine. If you have an educated guess...I'll take that too.

I intend to use a backhoe, brush hog, rear finish mower and move a fair amount of dirt and broken up concrete.

Somebody please provide me with an excuse to buy the 7610 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

since you have a 2200 and are going to need a backhoe, I think a new tractor is in order. There are backhoes now that will fit a 2200, but I would tend to want a backhoe that came with my tractor. Plus you get a new warrantee on both. I have a BX23 and have no experience with 7610. I'm not sure if your mower deck would interchange with the 7610. I can say that I love the backhoe on the BX. Sometimes a larger bucket would be nice, but the smaller bucket can be very precise. The clearance on the 7610 is higher, but if you don't have the clearance problem on your 2200 then I guess it's not an issue. So, I'd say yes. Get the new tractor. Which ever one works best for you. I always say get the new tractor when it is someone elses money. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I test drove both plus a B7800 at my dealer's dirt pile in their back lot. I was buying to do a lot of landsacaping work here at home. I made my decision based on the backhoe capacity. And, that was to get the B7610. [No mowing here and never intend to either. So a mower wasn't part of the equation. We're in the California foothills, no green just brown, along with attendant fire danger.]

I've had it 6 weeks now and have 41 hours on it. Half being backhoe time. I am really glad I got the larger capacity B7610. While I would have liked to buy the B7800 I tested, it wouldn't fit the long narrow passageway alongside my shop.

If your plans include moving dirt--bigger is better. If your plans include mowing you need to compromise. A B7610 makes a good straddle on that compromise. Pay attention to loader capacity too if you are moving dirt/rocks/stuff.

Jim, much of the same width equipment would still be used between the tractors mentioned. I'd move up to the 2910 or 7800.

I second that, the 7610 is a larger tractor, but not a substantialy more powerful one. The 7800/2910 is perfect because they have enough hydrolic flow to run a backhoe without adding an extra PTO pump. A 7610TLB runs about 18,600 while a 7800 TLB will go for 21,000. That $2500 gets you a heck of a lot more tractor.

I don't have a B2410 or 7610, but I do have a B2910 and a BX2200 on 3.7 acres, so my situation is similar to what yours may be.

Frankly there is no compmarison between the work my B2910 can do and what the BX could do, if I had it equipped the same. . I am emphasizing that because I use the BX as a mower mostly and/or a small chore machine, with a carry all or landscape rake on the back...I don't have a loader for it, but still I can relate to what it could/might do compared to the b2910.

In short, there is almost no comparison, the 2910 is just so much more tractor.

One of the members here (Bud) has a B2400 with a MMM that he uses to cut his lawn, and it looked like a real lawn to me and quite nice (I think he has an acre, or a bit more) so I guess the 7610 being I believe the same size tractor as the B2400/2410 would do that part just fine.

I guess I am sort of rambling here...I would propose you keep the BX and get a second tractor to do the real work. Only if you could afford it naturally... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif That would save the expense of buying a mower for whatever larger tractor you got...worked well for me...but we are all different.

For me, having the BX for the grass cutting and smaller chores, and the larger tractor to do the heavy work is so perfect it is hard to express...

You mentioned broken concrete...this was last year and I moved ten (or twenty ? short memory... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif) tri axle loads...some with large concrete pieces in it...see pic... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Having the larger tractor with higher capacity loader lets me undertake projects that I probably would not get into if I only had the BX...

The obvious answer:

"Dump it on the top. I'll keep pushing it down, and to the side...I can move ten trucks worth of dirt before the wife gets home... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif "

The driveway is about 4' below the tractor...and it was opened back up in time...the tractor worked a lot of hours that day...and the next, when the same thing repeated. You got to take advantage of opportunities when the appear... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
