b7800 I smell hydraulic fluid

My tractor is not HST but if I do something that overloads the FEL hydraulics and the pressure release valve vents then I smell hydraulic fluid. I don't know if that makes sense....but that's what it does. Also, pushing the FEL into float position when there is weight on it will do the same thing.

Level never changes.

I made sure to check the vent for any signs of fluid and found none. The smell may have started there but when I noticed drips falling from the connectors I knew I had sprung a leak.

I will check out that loctite product and see if I can find it. I was careful with the teflon tape only because I wasn't even sure if I could use it. The threads are about 3/4" long, the teflon is around 3/8" so I put the tape closer to the top of the threads away from the openings. Still, $20 in diesel later (that's not saying much now) and no leaks. It's a good sign!

My 7610 HST will smell under high loads when pushing snow. Whether I use the blade or the FEL, the smell usually comes from working the HST hard for continuous snow removal. The tranny makes its own heat in the winter just fine, and I get that unmistakable smell of hydraulic oil. The first few times I thought I was burning something up, but its really just working the tractor hard that does it.
No loss of oil. Yet.

I have over 330 hours on my 7800 - without leaks. I park it in my garage & check on a regular basis. I notice the smell after I use the loader a bit, or when I run the tractor for awhile. I also think the tractor vents. I do notice the smell when I take the loader off/put it on, but that is from the quick connects.
