B7800 Rear Spacers / Front Tire Flip?

   / B7800 Rear Spacers / Front Tire Flip? #11
I have very hilly property - very hilly.
I have the rears loaded and the FEL low, but I still avoid some places that I think I should be able to mow. So I'm looking at options for more stability. I did just read the thread about the custom rear wheel spacers - very nice.
Right now I'm interested in comments about the "stock" Kubota spacers that add 1.5" to each side, and flipping the fronts. Anyone with experience on these items?

Thanks.

If you're looking for spacers I HIGHLY recommend Bro-Tek. They make spacers for several Kubota tractors and if they aren't listed on their website then email them because they probably make them and if they don't, they can get the dimensions and make them. Richard is top notch for customer service too.

I just checked the website and they make 2" rear spacers for the B7800 for $280 for the pair and the kit includes all the hardware you will need. I have them on my Mahindra and the quality is excellent.

Thanks but just so that I am clear because spacers will cost about $300 for a pair for the front wheels. In the winter I do not use the FEl so there is no load. I have a 72" Woods snow thrower attached to the rear PTO. If I flip the rims, I can pick up just enough clearance to add chains to my R4 tires, which I am not able to do currently as there is not enough clearance between rim and hub. Still think I am asking for seal problems? Another solution is to add tire studs but chains work better on ice.

Thanks. What do you mean when you say "The pivoting of the front axle doesn't do anything until you are at its limit?" Does this relate to the FEL load? If so, my application is only for winter and I am not using the FEL, just a Woods snow thrower off the rear PTO. My B78000 is also 4WD. Flipping the tires would give me about an inch of clearance, enough for my chains to clear the hub. Still think I am asking for seal problems? Also, I can only fine 1.5" spacers (not 1"). Know where I can find 1"? Do you think the additional .5" matters? Much thanks!

I have had a B7800 since 2003 and have 2000 hrs. I flipped my front tires over 10 years ago and have kept them that way for the entire year. I have used the front loader to its max over the years and have not had any leaks on the front seals. I don't think you will have a problem if you flip for the winter to create the clearance. JMHO

There's a lot said about rear spacers and how much more stable a tractor is when so equipped. I've never seen any test results, for example, indicating how much more sidehill slope a spacer-equipped tractor can handle vs. a tractor with the factory width. No doubt there can be at least some small benefit, but just how much? Is it more of a placebo effect? Subconscious justification for spending a few hundred bucks to join the crowd? There should be an engineer out there who could run some calcs (and the danger of the 'net is that we'd never know if someone posting that info actually knew anything).

There are numerous posts saying something to the tune of "My tractor is much more stable since I installed the spacers". I'm sure that doesn't translate into "Y'know, before I made my tractor 3" wider, it always flopped over when I tried to mow the North pasture".:)
