Kubota B2910, also Honda HT3813 with mower and front blade.
Hi,

I made a quick stop at my local Kubota dealers today to look around. Still lots of snow on the ground, but most of the tractors were accessible.

I finally saw a B7800. Real nice. Just from initial appearance it might be hard for some to justify the $2000 price difference between it and the B2910. I did notice a push-button switch under the seat with the button facing the steering wheel. I didn't get a chance to ask anyone what it is for, and I checked on a B2910 that was nearby and it wasn't on that.
Anyone know what it was for? I should've taken a closer look, but it was cold out there so I didn't linger too long.

I also saw the new BX1500 and L3130. The BX1500 looks like a nice little tractor. They had 6 in the yard and I was told they were all sold. Apparently it's going to be a very popular little tractor. They also had one of the new Woods "BX" sized box blades in the yard.

Now, the L3130. Oh my GAWDDDDD!. Wow!!!! What a beast! It was parked next to an L4610 and it seemed to dwarf it. What a beefy looking tractor. I'm glad I live on a little postage stamp of a property or I would've been negotiating a trade on my B2910. Very, very nice tractor.

O.K., that's my update. Back to the original question. Anyone know what that B7800 seat switch was for?

That is Kubotas new ejection seat auto test button. Since several JD guys have complained of the lack of seat switches and auto kill buttons and anti reverse while mowing switches on Kubotas, Kubota thought to up the ante by providing a Jato powered ejection seat /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif. Should the driver fail to apply proper safety procedures a new "logic" box called "Big Brother" will eject occupant and the seat /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. I here it is a fine ride! I think the parachute is optional /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. This prevents future lawsuites by brain impaired yahoos /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. J

The B7800HSD presence switch can be overriden by lifting the seat and that button is activated by a tab on the front of the seat. If you want to run the PTO and not be on the seat (chipper for example) you simply raise the seat and the tractor will still run. On the L series, there is a delay built into the switch that gives you a chance to start the tractor and then get off. Hope this helps.

I've got one on my new 3050 HSTC. I also have a shop manual and in there it's called an "Operator Presence Device". I guess that if you fall off the tractor, it will stop in time to only run over 1/2 of you. I don't know why I need it though, I have a cab and with the doors closed I don't think I'd fall off.

I think devices like this are from the "big brother" way of thinking, you know, protect yourself from yourself. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
