B7800 vs B3200 and other questions

   / B7800 vs B3200 and other questions #11
I have a B7800 with the LA402 loader and the 72in MMM Deck I bought new 10yrs ago right before the B3200 came out. I've been completely happy with it, would like a little more loader lift though. I will say it is limited by weight/traction not HP. A couple things, I'd buy based on your current needs, not the 7-10yrs from now, things always change. I think a "B" class is too big for your current lot, storage shed, trailer and a BX would be more suitable. Or get a bit box riding lawnmower with a small trailer for at the house and keep the tractor on the 15acre property.

My suggestion for a 1 tractor for all solution, sell your trailer and get a tandem axle 7x16 "car hauler" type. Minimum of $500 to add the 2nd axle/brakes/tires, with you doing all the work, and then the frame may not be sized for it. Its much easier to load things on/off with the loader without the ladder side rails a "utility" trailer will have. You will need the bigger trailer for the tractor. Then add a leanto on the side of your shed or get a prefab carport for parking the tractor and implements under.

A few B7800 thoughts:
My B7800 w/loader attached would "just" fit on a tandem axle 6x12 trailer, backed on for tongue weight, with a few inches of loader bucket hanging off. With the loader attached, loaded with fuel, probably 2700lbs?? BUT it is about useless for any loader work without a rear counterweight of 700lbs. So that will add to the length and weight, call it 3500lbs total for tractor/loader/counterweight. I made a 35gal drum filled with scrap steel and concrete for the counter weight. So the B7800 configured to "work" at your 15acre lot is too heavy to haul on the current trailer.

I went with the 72in deck as I have almost 5acres to mow of our 10. It scalps in a few places since my yard is not very flat. A narrower deck would help in that regard, so your plan for the 60in might fit your needs since you mentioned a "rolling" lawn. I will say that my 72in deck is "drive-over" which makes hookup pretty easy, which the smaller decks do not allow. Another thing, its easier to "trim" with the wider deck as it sticks out past the track width of the wheels.

The B7800 with the ROPs up WILL NOT go through a 9x7 garage door without doing a wheelie. So to fit in your shed the ROPS will have to be down.

The B7800 comes with the LA402 loader. I can get 1000lbs off the ground, but don't try and move that on anything but flat ground. It will not lift a 1000lb pallet high enough to load in your truck or onto a trailer. Lift to full height is 750-800lbs, but you better be counterweighted and on flat ground. Kubota changed the method on measuring loader specs in the last few yrs. The B3200 comes with the LA504, don't be fooled, LA402=LA504 in the real world.

BackHoe, subframe, 3pt, etc I can't help you with. I wanted one but could not justify the $6k and just plan to rent a mini-ex when I need one.
