Greetings.

I'm a new user and greatly appreciate all the helpful advice to be found on this site. I've searched this forum for the answer to my particular question, but with no sucess.

I plan to install an inexpensive work light on the rear of my B7800. There is a free/empty wire with connector as well as an unnattached ground that are both taped to the wire bundle leading up to the rear right fender. I assume they are the factory provisions for the work light. I do not see any similar free wires under the seat.

Here's the problem - as far as I can tell, there is no power to these provisions. Nada. Zip. I've tested it with the headlights on, off, and with the flashers on and off. I can't figure out how to power up the wire. I suspect I'm missing something pretty basic, and would sure appreciate any advice.

Many thanks in adance.

On my 3400 the circuit is hot only when the switch is on. Check to see if there is a place in the fuse block labeled work light and make sure the fuse is there and functional.

Thanks very much emmy71. Sorry to be such an idiot on this stuff - I checked the fuse and sure enough it was blown.

But the real problem was that the cheap light I had bought was not working. Didn't think to test the circuit with another light until I read your post. There you go - a working work light as soon as I get back to Lowe's to return it.

I didn't realize that I'll have to get a switched light - the circuit gets hot as soon as the tractor ignition gets switched on.

Thanks again.
