Picture always worth a thousand words. Thanks for sharing. Definately no filter on my tractor like seen in Robert's pic.

My Kubota B8200 4WD is a manual shift transmission - 3 forward + 1 reverse with a HIGH and LOW Range only.

If I remove the hydraulic hose to take with me to an auto parts store, any good idea (other than stuffing a clean rag) on how to plug the metal tubes so all the fluid does not drain out.

Most importantly will the air indroduced into the line present any new problems after the part is replaced? if I just let the engine run for 3 minutes, without operating the 3 point hitch, will it just simply pump the air out?

I got my B8200HST-D used. The only manual I was able to get was for a gear tractor. It showed hydraulic filter. Maybe a difference in year of manufacture? Serial number for mine indicated 1985 manufacture.

I may have missed something, but did Bill say he had a hydro tranny? My B8200D is a gear tractor, and doesn't have a spin on hydraulic filter, just the screen insert.

Interesting. My B8200HST-D had three ranges. I have seen B8200D gear tractors with three ranges.

to remove that hose, I would let the fluid drain to a clean bucket. Maybe run it thru a coffee filter, then refill if the fluid is recent. Running thru a coffee filter would show any goo in the fluid...

Still puzzling on the range. Mine had three. Low was down and to the left. Lift the lever to the up position, for mid range. Put the lever down and to the right for high range. I only used high range when going downhill with a tailwind. That 19hp motor did not have enough power to pull high range otherwise.

My B8200D has three speeds, plus a low, medium and high range shifter. So, 9 forward speeds and 3 reverse. The low is really a creeper gear. I can run mine in 3-high on level ground with no problem, but not up a grade! The only hydraulic filter mine has is the screen inside the fitting on the gear case. If the hose you are removing is a return hose, I would think that draining and refilling would not create a problem?

Talked with Bill about this, on the side. Over the 12 years I had my B8200, the linkage got gummed up a couple times . When it did, it would not shift thru all three ranges.

Kinda thinking maybe the range linkage is gummed up. there is a zerk for greasing that linkage.

this thread has me missing my B8200. It was a great tractor. I just couldn't afford to keep it and get my bigger tractor.

RobertN: love to read that you liked your B8200- it is my first, and probably last, tractor, and I am pleased with mine, and what it will do for just a little diesel fuel. I would love a heated cab, more hydraulic take off points, bells and whistles, but really can't justify them for what I need to do.

It was(is) a GREAT tractor. Built like a tank. A little under powered(similar new B's have 29, 32hp). I added Tnt to mine. Oh, and an Ah-ooga horn. It really worked well.

The guy I sold it to is a beer brewing buddy. He really likes it. I get to visit it from time to time :D
