No that is Not how I would cut fuel... first it is a 24 volt valve, and you don't need a valve, use the one you have, follow the pull cable to the rack on the injector pump. You can mount a simple pull solenoid (around $25) that will do the same thing as the pull cable mount it at the injector pump where it Only pulls the fuel shut off (Not the cable).
Also shop around online you can find Murphy gauges for a Lot less... I would use Both a temp & a low oil pressure murphy gauge... run the solenoid current through a relay to keep from destroying the gauges and place a momentary pushbutton switch in your circuit to allow disabling the system during start up.

Yep, I linked to the 24 volt model, not the 12v. I'll scout around for the pull solenoid. That was actually my first thought, rather than the pricey fuel valve.

I have never been fond of the Murphy style gauges...am thinking about a simple 210 degree fan switch, and a low oil pressure switch, with a pushbutton switch to disable, and the pull solenoid. Like you said, about $100 in parts and a few hours of time.

For gauges, I am thinking about a set of aftermarket gauges with coolant temp/oil temp (for the hydraulic fluid)/oil pressure.

I just brought the tractor home this morning, I need to study the layout and figure out where these sensors/switches can be plugged into the engine. I want a nice clean layout.

Why not a fuel valve solenoid shutoff?

Because you already have a fuel shut off on the injector pump, (it's the mechanical pull cable).... & there are a lot of low priced pull solenoids available...

Ok finally got 30 mins with this tractor before dinner. Here's the latest:

-A pull solenoid will need about 3/4" movement to shut the flow off and stop the engine. I'll need to keep looking, that's a lot of movement
-The only promising spot for a temp sensor that I could see was the capped off heater hose outlet on the thermostat housing. It has about a 1" hex nut, undetermined threads, and not sure how much area is clear behind the cap.

I did order the Murphy temp swichgage, 2" gauge 130-250 degree readout with a 6' cable and 1/2" threaded sensor. I am probably going to get the Murphy kill switch and wire the existing oil pressure ground and temp gauge together. Looks to be the easiest way, and I don't have to mess with my own wiring diagram and ingredients. I may end up with the pricey solenoid valve, if I can't get a pull solenoid with the right specs.

Edit, looks like Murphy is still the only game around for long stroke kill solenoids. Yep....they are charging roughly the same for these solenoids as they are for the fancy shutoff valve.

The cable attaches to a lever on the injection pump, which swings a valve open and close inside the pump. It's how all the old time mechanical injectors worked...also, why the engine will keep running if the key is shut off. If it shuts off with the key, it has an electrically controlled valve in the injection pump, or a solenoid acting on the valve.

I am a new owner, and will need to use this tractor for stationary PTO duty, 24/7, driving a gearhead water well. I'll use the 748 rpm speed range. The gearhead will take about 640rpm at 8 hp, so I am hoping this tractor will hold up for hundreds of hours.

I do not yet have an owner's manual, but did find the B9200HST-D owner's manual. In the manual, it describes a "whistle" warning that goes off when the coolant temperature is over 212 degrees F.

Does anyone know if the 8200HST-D has the whistle warning? If so, I am wondering about installing a 12 volt relay on that circuit, and powering up a solenoid kill switch.

It seems very strange to me that the temperature info is so poorly communicated to the operater. I think I'll install some kind of aftermarket gauge to see how it's doing.

If you have the whistle that you no longer need, I am interested. My B8200 HST radiator has nothing connected for warning.

The parts book show it as a simple steam kettle type whistle.

PN 67800-58750 WHISTLE. Messick's has it at $99, holy cow!

Since it isn't an electronic gizmo, there isn't any kind of signal that can be picked up to shut off the engine. I'm not likely to be able to tell the Kubota from a coyote at 1/4 mile away. I'm not sure how it hooks up...I'll check tomorrow...

You can leave the pull cable, and then either system will activate the injector pump fuel shut off..
The lever on the fuel shut off has the pull cable attached to it, you can connect a pull solenoid and attach that to the same lever, close to the pivot point for a short pull Or farther away from the pivot for a longer pull...
An air shut off will absolutely work.... But you already have a fuel shut off and you would have to fab an air butterfly, easiest to go with what is already there. KennyV
