Baby Pig. Now What?

I figure Oscar's birth is on or around the first of the month, so today he is 9 months old. I figured it was time to measure around his chest again to see what he weighs.

I got 50 inches around his chest, just behind his legs and nice and tight. Using the formula from the link, I came up with 302 pounds!!!!!

Oscar is growing much faster then I imagined possible.

Remember, the way to accurately weigh your pet is to pick up your pet and weigh him and you on your bathroom scale then subtract your own weight. Be safe though and make sure you wear a weight lifter's waist belt when you weigh Oscar.

I can answer the first part of that question: one


Norm died at age 7.
Domestic pigs live 10-15 years, Wild pigs live to 25 years.

The article says he probably died of a hear attack, wonder what his cholesterol level was?

I tried this when I brought Oscar back from his night in jail. I had him in the back of my truck, and figured it would be easy to pick him up and step on my scale. Two things happened. I couldn't see the scale while holding him, and the combined weight of the two of us broke the scale. The needle just came right off!!!!

I don't think I can hold him anymore, and if he fights me, which he did every time I picked him up when he was smaller, I'll probably get hurt.

The string around the chest method is the easiest, and close enough for me. :thumbsup:
