Wow! Eddie, you sure have a fancy feed trough there.;)

It probably wouldn't do any good to put food in a bowl or trough. He'd just turn over the bowl and get it on the ground anyhow. I think you showed him eating pumpkins once, but have you ever given him watermelon or cantaloupe scraps?

Funny thing about the pumpkins, I now have half a dozen of them growing in my front yard!!!! I've never tried cantaloupe, he doesn't like watermelon at all. He is kind of picky on what he likes and wont touch.

As for a trough, I'm trying to come up with something new. His old feeder is now part of my fenced in front yard and Karens Akita is now using it. It wasn't perfect for Oscar because of the mess he would make and how it would get wet when it rained. He wont touch it if its wet, so it rots and I have to clean it up all the time.

We are also in the process of fencing in the front pasture and locking him up in there. His rubbing, digging and tearing up everything is making my Mom crazy. I think it's just part of Oscar, but she hates it and wants him in one place and away from the houses. I need to come up with a feeder in there that will last and not create more work for me. I'm thinking concrete that I will form up there and set in the ground deeper then he can dig up.

Good luck fencing in that pig. The ones who have been contained since they were piglets are hard enough to keep in. Oscar has been roaming free his whole life, and he'll dig, root, chew, push, and lift anything he can trying to get out.

I saw a cartoon once of a pig in full welding gear with an O/A torch cutting the fence. The farmer was in the foreground with a thought bubble saying, "So that's how he's getting out." It was funny when I first saw it, but it made so much more sense after I raised pigs for a few years.

Oscar is still outsmarting me on fencing him in. I'm working on plan C, but it's turning into more work then I'm wanting to put into this right now. No telling who is going to win this battle. LOL
