Oscar is doing good at staying in his pen. Moving the hot wire out further in the open, and giving him lots of time to think about it seems to have worked. He still tests it, and he still squeals like he's in extreme pain when he touches it, but I think that's more for show then any actual suffering.
To make him want to be there, Karen and I built him a feeder and a house. He likes to sleep in my shed, so giving him a place to sleep with a roof should make him happy. We started over the weekend. I took a busted up 12 inch plastic culvert and bolted it to two scrap PT 6x6 posts. We drilled two 12 inch holes and used two sacks of 60 pound concrete for each hole to hole it in place. I went big because he's never ending in his abuse.
Then I built a form to create the trough for the food that will keep full as he eats, but be easy to clean.
The house is 6ft wide and 7ft deep with a 2 foot porch extending out past the opening. I'm using 3ft wide R panels for the roof, so that's why I came up with those dimensions. The walls are 4 feet tall with a 4:12 pitch on the roof. Lowes had some opened sacks of sand for .50 cents each, so we bought all of them for his bed. Don't know if it matters or not, but for $4, why not? LOL
Next weekend, well cover the walls with Hardi, paint it and maybe put on gutters. I need to order the trim parts for the metal, but it's not high on my list to get it done right away.
