I had no idea that there was such a day. I searched for it on facebook and joined several groups to celebrate National Pig Day.

I raised a feral pig that I found while hunting a few years back, he was small enough to fit in the hip pocket of my B.D.U pants.
I had a completely different agenda than you, as I had no intention of making him my companion. He was my research assistant right up until he became BBQ for 75,:licking: about 7 months.
I learned that he would just about turn himself inside out for sardines. I used frozen not canned, as they are easy to come by here and I have them around for fish bait.
You might want to try standing down wind and open up a can of sardines and see if he doesn't knock you over trying to get at them.

Oscar is kind of picky on what he eats. I've tried catfish and fish guts, but he barely sniffs it before wondering off. I don't know if I want to be around sardines, but have figured that I'm probably better off with Oscar remaining a vegan. He gets plenty of protein in the Ol Roy dogfood that I feed him. It's the cheapest stuff out there!!!!

A friend gave him grapes the other day, and he REALLY LIKED them!!!!! He's not to excited on banana's and totaly ignored sunflower seeds. He likes carrots, but not peas.

Who knew that pigs would be so picky?

Another thing that I've noticed about him since he's been castrated is that he no longer tries to bite or nip me. He was never aggressive about it, and most of the time it was my boots that he tride to bite. Now he just sniffs and goes for the shoe laces if he can get them. One guy that was out here tucked his into his boots because Oscar kept going for them. Even then, he would go back and keep checking to see if he could get ahold of them.

Really glad that I have him cut, he's become the pig that I've always wanted!!!! LOL
