Yes, I started out with a store bought automatic feeder that Oscar destroyed in a day. Then I built one out of 6 inch PVC that was strong enough for him, but it wasn't big enough to hold a full sack of food. It also got wet and he wouldn't eat the food when it's wet. My thought was to build one out of a broken 12 inch culvert that I had laying around and mount it to a pair of posts set in the ground that would be strong enough to withstand his rubbing. To keep the food dry, I noticed that a wheelbarrow had a great shape, so I bought one for $40 and cut off all the extra stuff and painted it green to match his house. It has proven to be Oscar tough and a success in every way.
Well Eddie, pretty smart idea, I can see that same concept working for even a trough set-up, or even a deer pellet feeder. Of course would have to be elevated for deer as to keep out coons and other animals.
