Recommendations for medium duty unit? What does an add on like this cost? How hard are they to put on and take off so I can use the 3 point and PTO?

As you can see, I'm absolutley new to the BH club. Looking for seasoned advice on equipment, prices and difficulties in putting it on and taking it off.

thanks in advance,

The Woods 7500 would be an excellent choice. My Woods digs wonderfully, its very well built, only downside is you have to take off 3 point hitch to use it. Its very easy, but like a half hour every time. The Bradcos are slightly heavier than Woods and you don't have to remove the 3 point hitch. A new Woods is maybe $6,000, a new Bradco maybe $8,000. I found a used unit, they are somewhat common on craigslist.

I would probably get the Kubota 77 ......if that is the most current model number. I like the Kubota unit because of it's integrated design. It keeps the hoe tucked tight to the rear wheels making a more compact, maneuverable unit.

I have had two tractors with backhoes and would strongly recommend a dolly for removing and installing the backhoe. It makes the job way easier and faster.I wouldn't even think about removing my BH90 without a dolly. With the dolly on a concrete floor it literally takes five to seven minutes either installing or removing. The dolly allows you to wheel the backhoe out of the way also.I made mine but it could probably be purchased or custom made at a welding shop.

After seeing the other thread about the Pin/Cylinder issue I'd avoid the BH77 until the issue gets resolved. I personally have a Woods BH80X and yes you do have to remove the 3 point arms, but it still takes only 5-10 min to put the BH on. I just like the fact that all the woods BH80X's are the same just different colors making parts more accesable.

Woods is the go to company for good aftermarket backhoes. Unlike Kubota, Woods gives volume discounts so a good dealer can give pricing at or below the price for a BH77 while a small shop would probably be more. The BH77 does fit tighter and comes on and off easier, but the Woods has an edge in power.
