Hi,
1.Does the 2910 have an advantage over the 2710 for backhoe use?.
2.What backhoe should I get ..Kubota or aftermarket? I am interested in price, easy of mounting/dismounting, performance and what unit would stress the tractor frame the least.

A 29 has a few more horses than the 27, but personally I think its moot when it comes to the hoe. I have a 2910 with a Bush Hog 865H subframe hoe. There are a million opinions on subframe vrs TPH. My personal choice was subframe, because of my conceptions on the stress and strain of the hoe. And subframes are supposedly easier to put on, but sometimes hooking up any implement can be simple or a PITA. My dealer gave me good numbers on the 2910, sells Bush Hog which has a sf, so there it is. It's whatever the dollars come out to and you're happy with it.

Buying a 3PH or sub frame Backhoe may depend on if you are getting an MMM. On the B27-2910 model a sub frame would interfere with mounting a KUBOTA MMM.

Rocky,

Unless I am mistaken the 865 seems to be a big hoe(9 ft digging depth and 1130lbs). Does it seem too big for your machine?

The reason I ask is that I was offered the same hoe for my 2150 but figured it was too heavy just by looking at the specs from the bushhog website. I know the 2150 is not a 2910, but it is reasonably close and maybe I should take a second look.

I went for the 665 over the 765 due more importantly for the price. The digging depth was sort of a moot point since it's for my own use and the rated depth for the 665 is 7', so in reality it'll more than likely go 6 1/2', which is all I should need. To be honest, it's nice to have the hoe, but if push came to shove I could live without it. I say that now, but if I was trenching alot I'd be cussing cause I didn't buy one at the time.

Whatever the size of your backhoe it sure does beat my situation:) I have got a really nice spade !

If you don't mind me asking ... approximately how much was the 665 ?

I'd have to dig out and check the paperwork. I remember the hoe itself was less than 5k on my package deal. Ballpark somewhere around $4500 or so. Again, this deal may have been a little sweeter since this was my second purchase from this dealer, and, I traded in the older B2100 w/loader. If the old memory cells are right...I think the 2910/loader/hoe package came in around 21K plus change before trade and rebate.

Rocky , you got a good deal. I got my 2910 TLB for just over 22K. The hoe is a woods 7500 (subframe) has done everything I have asked of it. I agree on getting the subframe unless there is an issue with MMM. Mine is pretty easy to remove although it is on the tractor most of the time
