That could be a problem then. Hadn't dug into it that far yet, but a quick look at the parts book confirms what you are saying. To o bad, it would have been nice for backhoe work and running the wood splitter. I could add a flow divider on the power beyond return and direct some oil back to through the cooler. Not to concerned about the pressure difference as the pump itself can probably take 2500 psi and since the power steering would be disconnected there would be no relief at the 1500 psi level. It's starting to get too complicated and costly to be practical.

Here is a hydraulic schematic. It might help you in your endeavors. Maybe a PTO driven pump would be the best. I would be a little squeamish with interfering with the lubrication flow to the hydro tranny. I guess you didn't say which tranny you have, but the PS pump supplies lube flow to both types.

I did basically the same thing, only with a case skid steer unit. I have a separate hydraulic tank and use a pto pump.
