Backhoe backhoe bucket size kubota?

Doesn't matter sizes are too close.

Now if you are asking 12" and 24" then you have a question, but not 18" and 20" that's only one inch on both side of the bucket or insignificant when it comes to dirt.

I have 3 buckets for mine & don't know what I would do with out any one. I have a 12" & 18" trenching bucket and a 30" smooth bucket for clean up and grading which I built my self. You will regreat taking the teeth off your bucket when you get in hard or frozen ground. If anything I would do with out a smooth bucket before I would give up a tooth bucket

Cat_Driver, I had revived this thread inquirying about the difference between a 16 and 24", see here backhoe bucket size kubota? - TractorByNet.com What do you think?

powerstroke444e, I would not be loosing the teeth entirely. I would cut them off and make a tooth bar for the BH bucket. It would be just as effective. What do you think? That way I can take the tooth bar off for when I want to use the 24" bucket for smoothing.

I guess it all depends on how you will be using the backhoe and what your soil conditions are. If I were digging stumps, rocks and heavy clay I would look for an 18" bucket and definitely would want the teeth. I guess a toothless bucket would be good for trenching but I don't seem to have problems digging trenches with a toothed bucket. The idea of a tooth bar for a backhoe bucket is interesting. Backhoes will produce large point loads on a single tooth at times, like digging a stump, and I wonder how a tooth bar will hold up?

That should of been the question I asked at first. This brings into question the grade of steel bolt to use as well as type of bolt/nut and which way is best to install the nut and bolt. Then its questions like, use a lock washer or loc-tite? All questions a newbie would ask. :)

Just thinking about stump pulling and root digging with the BH. Is there an attachment made for BH's that are like a single hook? Something like that used on a 3pt to break up soil.

I suggest leaving the teeth on the bucket. For fine grading or leveling, an attachment can be made to cover the teeth, which can also be wider than the bucket. Several companies make them, but should be easy to fab one up.

Now this is what I like about forums. Great ideas. GE222 makes a great suggestion and its one I'll go with. Thanks bud.
