Backhoe backhoe for 2210?

When I bought my 2210 the dealer and JD rep said they would have a backhoe for the 2210. I have been wonder about the truth in that now since I have not seen any post about it, I would like to have that toy err tool also /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I have read post about the frame being a 2-peice frame so it would not be strong enough for a backhoe. I would like to know if anyone else has heard this?

The salesman at the Argicenter in Redmond told me the same thing, that the 2210 didn't have a strong enough frame for a backhoe. He still wanted to try putting a 46 on it to try, but as far as I know he never actually did it.

Since they just came out with one for the 4110 maybe they're working on one for the 2210 as well but as far as I know the 4110 is the smallest JD that can handle a backhoe (someone correct me if I'm mis-informed).

The older 670's and 770's would take a #6 backhoe. In fact, the 770 may have used the #7 'hoe. That's what originally was offered with the 790's too.

The 40xx series tractors may not have as substantial a frame as the 670's and 770's though. Those older Deeres (Yanmars) are pretty tough machines.

If I remember right the sales guy told me that it would have it's own sub frame for the hoe. I would think that JD would have to come out with one since MF and Kubota both have units in that class with hoes. It would be my luck for them to pull a kubota and make different model that would take the hoe like the bx2200 & bx22 maybe a 2210TLB. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

There are some after market ones available but I personally would avoid them. They will void your warranty faster than you can say "dag Gummit". The 2210 has a aluminum transaxle. The little Kubota that has a BH has a one piece ladder style frame more like a traditional tractor. Even it uses a sub frame for the hoe. The 2210 and the 4010 are two piece garden tractor frames. I do not think the JD hoe will work on the 4010 either for the same reason. Also remember that the 2210 is a Limited catagory 1 so you have less lift height. I think you've been hood winked if the dealer told you JD has a BH option for the 2210. Dave

The dealer did not say it was available now, but should be this fall. I am sure this will be his out, I will be back in there next week and I will push the issue. I really like my 2210, I thought I had gone to small when I saw it next to the combines in the lot. When I got home and used it some I sure I got the right size for 90% of what I do on my 6 acres which most mow mow mow mow /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gifdig /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The disturbing thing I have heard from a few folks is that there are select JD dealers selling the aftermarket ones. Just remember buyer beware. You can certainly push a piece of equipment past the manufactures specs with in reason. A BH does not in my opinion fit that bill on THIS tractor. If you are carefull you can get away with a post hole digger, but if you have warranty problems I sure wouldn't mention useing non-JD authorized implements to them. They can easily justify voiding your warranty. I can not imagine that a Factory BH will be comeing out, ever, for this unit. But then I have been wrong before. Most likely he was miss-informed and refering to the new BH for the 4110 and 4115 that just came out. I never really understood the concept of one on a machine this size as they will certainly cost more than 50% of what the tractor itself was. Dave
