Backhoe Backhoe For BX

While searching Ebay, I came across an auction for a new backhoe from Puma Machinery! I emailed the seller and asked if it would work on the BX. After checking out the BX specs, he said he thought it would work fine! Has anyone ever used one on their BX? If you want to check it out, it is Ebay item 1684143213. He said it would run off the tractors hydralics, or you could run it off the rear pto with an $800.00 add on attachment!

Ihave a Kubota b1700 with a Kubota BH. With tractors of this size, and slightly smaller BX's I would be very leary about putting a non factory BH on them. Even with the factory BH's, there is definately potential to do serious damage to you tracter.
Also, Kubota came out with a BX22 that comes with a BH,But that unit, from what I have heard has been beefed up some how. If Kubota doesn't make a BH for the present BX's, I would definetly not put an after market BH on the machine, if it were me.
Just my opinion.

somewhere on here a while back was a picture of what happens to a bx when you attach a back-hoe-----it was broke completely in half. if they were designed for a hoe, kub would make one. i wouldn't even consider such an option!

A good handyman can make all kinds of adaptations, so I've no doubt it would be possible to adapt some backhoe to the BX, but I'd have to agree with the other guys; not if it was my BX./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Couple of weeks ago I saw at Hawkensen Equipment in Plymoth,NH a new Bx2200 w/a Land Pride backhoe attach,and it was tight fit and look good also lot cheaper than Kubota had to offer.
Maybe by paying a little more now you might not have to pay more in the long run..repairs etc../w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

I tell you - I'm still interested in exactly what was done to beef up the BX22 frame. I don't see how it would be a major effort to isolate the frame from the stresses imposed by the backhoe with some careful design. Two factors to consider are:

1. The BX frame does not appear to be substantially weaker or less stiff than that for - say - the 7500 (it's not a lawn tractor despite some critics best shots)

2. I'm sure the BX22 backhoe statistics are less than on a larger tractor - it's already scaled down somewhat. I don't think BX owners are hoping for some huge capacity hoe here.

This may be a bit of an academic question, but I'll definitely be one of the first down to the dealership to take a look when they get the BX22 in. It really may not be that much different on the back end. Guess we'll see soon - could be all Kubota marketing talk.

Isn't this "BX broke in half" story a myth?

The only thing I remember is that someone attributed it to some Kioti dealer - who then couldn't come up with any proof after he had claimed to see pictures handed around at his dealer meeting.

I'd love to see the evidence if it's out there! I don't believe it myself. Anything that spectacular would have had plenty of pictures out on it by now.

Today, I saw at MB Tractor, in Plaistow, NH a BX1800 with a Land Pride backhoe attached.

Right now RPM this is all speculation but I too doubt there is any real diffeence between the BX2200 and the BX22 frames. Whatever difference there might be I feel might be retrofittable--at some expense--or no expense if you are handy. I think the problem is that Kubota, continuing to be very clever in maintaining the BX's very small foot print/size/length has fitted the BX22 with a backhoe that utilizes the BX seat in a turnaround position--in other words--the seat must swivel or remove and reinstall in a reverse position--this would also require the upper frame member cross brace to which the upper arm of the 3-point attaches to be different--so --- that is where the differences lie--not so much in the strength of the frame or it's basic design but in the rear area where swiviling the seat occurs. I could be wrong since like you guys all I have seen are a few pics.
Yep, the broke in half BX is a continuation of the broke in half Kubota B?(whatever) urban legend used by the green team whenever it is needed to make some ground on the orange team. It is unsubstantiated and if in fact someone installed a backhoe on a Kubota and it broke in hald because the subframe was not attached then they deserve it!
Nope, the BX is not a lawnmower and a critical look at the frame shows a stiff, robust, well braced design that may be at least equal to the B series--pound for pound. Frankly, this 2410 I got is a bigger tractor and it does have a heavier frame but proportionally the BX is at least it's equal. I think, properly set up with perhaps a homemade subframe, the BX should be able to handle a small backhoe. We shall see when the BX22 comes available.

Hi, I had a BX that I traded in on a B7500. I loved the BX but wanted a small backhoe and I did not feel there was enough ground clearance on the BX. I have seen some closeups of the new BX22 and can see some frame changes to the rear.

I haven't had a chance yet to visit MB in Plaistow,NH yet.
Are they the same size as MB in Tilton,NH also offer New Holland.

Yes they are about the same size, but they only have Kubota on site. They have tons and tons of Land Pride equipment on site, ready to take home.
(Like a post hole digger I've got my eye on!)

That's my bet until it actually gets proven to me. I did see a bona-fied picture of a Massey that had broken in two though.

I just purchased the BX2200 and it was a hard decision because I had thought about the possibility of buying a Hoe in the future. I did decide that I would purchase the BX because I wasn't sure if I would ever really have a need for the BH. I was surprised when I was looking at tractors that the dealers all said the BX couldn't handle a Back Hoe. I was looking at a Simplicity Landlord LAWN tractor. It was two wheel drive, diesel and didn't have a half the frame of the BX. The Simplicity dealer gave me a brochure of the tractor with a small Back Hoe attached. This tractor didn't even have a 3 point hitch.
