I was working on my Case 480 backhoe (again ) today and the thought of selling it and just getting a hoe for the Yanmar keeps crossing my mind .
What size would be a good one for my 2000 bd ? and are they easy to remove? ( within reason) Need snowblower in the winter. What is the average price ?
I do very little digging with my Case anymore. Usually just use the FEL. But I know as soon as I sell it I will need the hoe.
I just don't think maintaining 2 machines is worth the effort and $ when I could do everything I need to do with just the Yanmar.
BTW, does anyone have any pics of their Yanmar with a Hoe on it? Thanks...

No pictures, but there is a Koyker KB-60 hoe on the back of my YM-240D. Next time, I would not spend $5K on a small hoe for a 2000 pound tractor. I would rent a bigger hoe on a heavier tractor as needed. Having the FEL on a separate machine is handy too. I'm curious how those little orange machines get any digging done with such small hoes.

So you are saying it isn't worth the money or effort? I guess if that is the case I will just keep on wrenching it on my Case.

The tractor mount hoes are not a full size Case for sure but I can’t think of one time they were outshined by a shovel. My most popular package is the YM2000 with backhoe and I haven’t heard one complaint. Be realistic about the depth and ground condition and you wont be disappointed

Having used larger backhoes, the first time I used my tractor mounted hoe I quickly grew impatient with the slower digging speed. I jumped off my tractor and struck the Southern Maryland clay with my shovel, and it bounced back. I jumped back on hoe, and I suddenly had a great appreciation for its digging speed and how much less sore I would be that evening. Since then, that hoe has been worth every penny for my application - digging drainage lines, removing tree stumps (not recommended), footers, small side jobs, etc. And I can move it with a light truck and trailer.

It all depends on your application...

If you live in an open area where you dig in dirt, not clay, get the backhoe attachment. On my clay and through the trees, I would rather rent or maintain a small excavator than try to manuever a 18' rig in the trees. Hoe plus FEL makes a long tractor.
